Well, I don't qualify for a coupon. So four months more means, four months longer I get to watch TV on TV then I will be limited to what I can watch online. Anyone wanna give me their coupon?

I don't think Microsoft is doing anything wrong here, if they make a bit of profit on this good for them. But if you are using a pirated copy and pay & agree to them then you are the idiot. Microsoft banks on making money off of idiots.

Unfortunately I have never had a chance to learn to use a slide rule. I am a third generation math geek and there are plenty of old math books around but not a single slide rule to be found. I feel like I am lacking a certain level of geekness.

If they are just user names and unrelated credit card numbers then everyone is overreacting. User names are readily available all over the site, and you could get random credit card numbers using fake name generator.

Chances are I am wrong, but if thats the case then that narrows the list down, and I wouldn't have to worry.

I personally think, they could get more subscribers doing this. I don't have cable, and where I live now I only get one channel, but given the opportunity to choose only a few stations I would go for it. They definitely could win over some people who are not current cable customers. I would imagine parents would love this too, a way to truly block the bad stuff.

Anyone savvy enough to block ads is probably savvy enough to have their browser present its user-agent as Internet Explorer if necessary.
Exactly, the only people that will really be hurt by this are those who never had ad blocker to begin with. I guess I can be expecting a call from my mom any day now complaining about the internet being broken because she cannot access that site.

Oh, don't worry, you haven't killed them all. I do think vinyl sounds warm. I think one thing that keeps records in such good shape is their size and use. Mainly, they cannot be played in the car, which means they stay at home stacked neatly beside the record player (or in my case record players), while cds get tossed around the car. I gave up on store bought cds years ago. They are so easily destroyed. And as someone has already mentioned this is a contributing factor to piracy. Why buy it when you know it will soon be destroyed. They are in some ways already being phased out by the mp3 player. In my opinion each medium serves its own purpose though. Anyways... Happy Birthday Compact Disk!

  11. intern on Intern Loses 800,000 Social Security Numbers · · Score: 1

As an intern at a company where I have the potential to do damage if I wanted. What the heck were they thinking to give that data to him? I personally am scared enough if I am logged on as administrator in the production system. I agree that the intern wasn't at fault. There is defiantly something missing from this story though, the data would have been safer if they left it on someone's desk at the office. What if the intern looses them, or leaves them at home when he comes in the next day. Poor Jason, but why even let you have that much responsibility?
