I didn't know this beforehand, but simply googling for "Time and Relative Dimensions in Space Face of Boe Cap'n Jack" yields enought right away to tell me it's a Dr. Who thing.
For someone not from the US, the last sentence in the parent sums up what's one of the biggest flaws in the US legal system. IANAL but as far as I know, most of the industrialized countries have indeed the "stupid pays" system, and there you see much less of the "evil corporation spends millions to crush opponent with litigation costs". For the simple reason that in these countries an evil corp would just be shooting itself in its foot.
Why is closing your browser daily, a "normal" use? In my experience, the ratio of closers/noclosers is closer to 50/50. Anyway, memory hogging hasn't bugged me that much lately, my firefox sessions are usually open for days without problems (only have adblock and flashblock).
What bugs me much more is that I can't start a parallel firefox process for opening risky stuff in - you just get another window in the same process, and that one takes the original window down with it when the sh*t hits the fan. I guess the reasons for having it in the same process have mostly to do with it being too much hassle to synchronize multiple processes. Just don't think it's a good reason. If anyone thinks different, please yell - don't downmod:)
Funny, the parent poster got modded troll for almost the same comment not too long ago. And now he's also 5 Informative on that message! Here's to hoping that mean spirited moderators are out of mod points:o)
I've worked for a few relatively small companies since my graduation, and I haven't seen the attitude you're talking about. If it was there, at least it wasn't explicit the way you describe. On the other hand I've heard similar stories, so the problem is probably widespread. Anyone know of research on this?
As to your case, switching to the dark market side seems like a good idea - then again finding a better place to do geeky things might not be a bad idea either...
Of course! He was armed with a book so he had to be tasered.
Do you really think that four full grown police man shouldn't have been able to handle this without using excessive force?
When China decides it wants to use their US dollar savings, aka the trade deficit, the dollar will slide down and/or inflation will rise. However, the Chinese will not want that to happen too fast, as they don't want their savings to become worhtless. So what will most likely happen is that the standard of living in the US will continue to improve slowly, while China catches up, let's say in a couple of decades (wild guess). So, the trade deficit is not meaningless, but its future effects perhaps grossly overstated.

Why, let's just say I do the dirty work for the other side, no matter what side you're on
You are correct that China and others are unlikely to want to damage the US economy. That said, they're also likely to want to cash in on some of their surplus. This will probably mean lower dollar as there will be more dollars in traffic with nothing new behind it (money already spent, aka the trade deficit). But it's likely to happen slowly so I don't see any catastrophe happening because of that. Only that the standard of living in China and US gets more and more on equal terms, but that will take a long time - at least if history is anything to judge from.
To add to the uncertainty of the US economy sliding downwards, economic effects of things like computers and aviation weren't exactly predictable before these became everyday stuff. I think the same will happen with advances in energy production/consumption.

Adding to this, Norway and Iceland have had good budget surplus for a long time, and the rest of Scandinavia is in pretty good shape too. Guess that clearly shows the evil of our socialism

I am a power bridge, you insensitive clod!
Actually I think it was a funny comment - flamebait my hairy behind...
Maybe I'm thick, but why is this troll or flamebait?
How is the parent poster offtopic? Makes me imagine flying cars being stalled and dropping from the sky, appropriately on bad-ass moderators :p

I'm wondering if some of the moderators here have serious psychological issues. Another poster who got the reference was modded offtopic...
Why is the PP modded troll? His arguments sound fine to me. Must say I'm getting rather sick of how people here use their modpoints.
Can someone explain why this is modded troll? Sometimes I think the moderations are handed out by non-human entities...

Well, I had my reasons.
God knows what reasons others have had...
[Please realize that this IS a nickname]
For Windows, I'd recommend Foxit reader. Opens instantly, and no pesky update whining every two days...

Life can be hard if you are not thought to take Apple related material seriously... Oh well, welcome to undeserved offtopic land :o)

Write '<' to get <. Btw, they used corruption ranking (discrete) as a continous varible, so they were using the wrong test.
Sorry dude - on bad hairdays, most moderators fail to grasp attempted sarcasm (wasn't me though, I expect to remain karma-neutral forever)
