True, but the statistics never tell the story of what's on the ground. I moved out in 2004, bought a house in 2008 (when the market couldn't bottom out any more*) and despite coming up in an era of "no jobs" and "bad economy" I got a job in the tech field, and made enough to buy a house.
*it did. A lot more.:( But hey! Not underwater as of last year!
I took "a year off" after the first year of college.
I never went back.
I assume most people don't, they just need a year of space to let everyone around them forget. I have a good job as a software tester right now though, so things have worked out for the better so far.
Finding it might require some mouth guards, a giant talking foam head, and a few TV cameras, but finding the Control Panel was never promised to be easy...
Telling people to learn how to shutdown Windows 8 is pretty funny, the confusion they experience as they look around is just pricesless. Funny enough the less-tech-savvy people just ended up searching for "shutdown", which thankfully works - even if it's a very strange way to handle power management.
But not having a windows/super key is just... against productivity. It's useful in so many different ways. You can also get a mechanical keyboard that will rival the Model M.
I don't really care what you want to use to type, but I get irked when I see people (not you, just used your comment as a jumping off point) who scoff at the Windows key and (apparently) everything it stands for.
This isn't even a funny joke anymore, you can find keyboards without a key with the windows logo on it, but it's still there, because having a Super button is pretty useful.
Can you name another free provider that would let you host your adult material while also hosting adult ads to make a profit?
Blogger only allowed this because they used to allow it in the past, not many other blogging services are this liberal with their rights to make money off their services.
Boy I sure hope someone doesn't decide to call the cops on you 4 months from now.
I type this as a joke but now, looking at this story again... I actually really hope nobody decide to call the cops on you - because apparently what you have typed is now a clear legitimate threat?
Not to be "that guy", but really it should be "still beating" or "still-beating" hearts, and not: still, beating hearts. The later of the examples is just silly sounding.
There should be no remorse for what was said. Out of all the countless conversations that get monitored and picked up, what this kid said amounts to saying "I will blow up the President with a billion nuclear bombs." It's just a completely ridiculous statement, especially when it's followed up with a "lol", "jk".
This is not a threat to shoot up a school, this is - if anything - some kind of morbid joke that highlights the ridiculousness of the earlier accusation that he was insane.
I care because having shit sold to me by the way of sex-appeal just means you think of me like an idiot who is unable to not think with my dick for a few hours at a time. I'd rather not do business with a company that thinks I'm unable to turn off the lizard brain for a bit.
This is why I am so saddened over Windows 8. I use it (8.1) at work (full disclosure: Microsoft), and I use Windows 7 at home.
There is literally nothing in Windows 8 that improves my Windows/OS experience in any way.
Perhaps literally is too strong, I enjoy the new Task Manager and File Transfer dialogues. Nothing improves my workflow, and while faster boot times are nice, a SSD managed to do the same thing without trying to lock my OS into a Microsoft account.
The Task Manager and File Transfer dialogues are much, much nicer, but they feel like things that can be hammered out in a week, not really even a bullet point to put on the back of your box. These kind of improvements are usually the stuff you see the blogs pick up on: "5 Cool Things You Might Have Missed!".
Car analogy: it's like getting really nice stick shift and "check engine" lights, when the engine itself hasn't changed from the same crud you were using.
If you have a network connection, you MUST connect your log-in with a Microsoft account. There is no option to avoid doing this short of unplugging your landline or refusing to connect to a wifi point during setup.
I can imagine the "net required" aspect is coming in Windows Red.
It truly is just a ".1" update. This update is made to get people to sign up with a Microsoft account (it's a pain to set up Windows 8 without one starting with 8.1) to get it via the store.

The choice is yours, and yours alone.

It just sounds like a bunch of Whiny people who wants to get an Apple or Defend Linux, or are so old or autistic that they cannot handle any change.
It's moments like this I feel real proud to say, "yes, I comment on Slashdot".

So now to move into this void you just need to:
- Provide free webhosting/blogging for adult websites
- Allow them to make money off your bandwidth/resources while paying you nothing (free)
And then just watch... the money... roll in?
No, clearly this is Google going back on their "do no evil" motto, right?!
I mean someone is taking away a free service I make money off of, so clearly I have every american right to be angry and uneducated about the topic.
Can you name another free provider that would let you host your adult material while also hosting adult ads to make a profit?

I have completely forgotten about Blogger.
You... uh.. you're really stretching to remove that foot from your mouth earlier. Keep at it.
I applaud your efforts, but you then hid behind "Anonymous Coward", thus feeding into the very hysteria you're trying to avoid.
But then you turn around and insult how few people were killed in Newtown so I guess you're just trying to be SuPeR eDgY

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
It wasn't a fake bomb, it was a series of lights on a T-Shirt.
Anyone who gave it a second glance could see that.
But please knee-jerk jail people, because so far we have been catching a lot of terrorists with this policy!

Poe's Law.
Because when before I had to just buy one, now I must buy two to get the same "functionality". I don't get how this is confusing.

Did you know that if you steal most things, they are free?
It really hasn't changed.

You're going to make this whole debate a lot less fun if you keep actually looking up facts and stuff.
