The answer to the question above is nothing. On the whole, Americans just don't give a damn. In fact, they seem to like the idea of their intelligence looking after them, despite the inherent risks and problems it creates.
This is probably because a good portion of the people here tend to have the attitude: "If I'm doing nothing wrong, where's the problem with this? Sure I may be getting spied on, but the 'bad' people are as well. Since I'm doing nothing wrong, and they are, it's THEIR problem, not MINE."
I think it's not a bad idea, as long as games don't HAVE to use it. That way there's no real way it could be abused (using it for patches and the like, ack). I have no clue what they WOULD use it for, though. Sounds like a pretty expensive way to just save games, there has to be more to it...
Just a thought, did you look at the user number? Over 200,000... now, the real Sig11, to have amassed as much Karma has he has, has to be much, much lower than 200k.
They've already done experiements where they put electrodes on a guy and he was able to move a cursor around the screen just by thinking about it... (sorry, I forgot where I read that... no link:/ ) Anyways, I'm sure that eventually you'll just have a DataJack in your head (just like in ShadowRun!) where you'll just plug in a cable and you're all set.
The Lincolns are nice, but I suppose they'd better be if you're gonna pay $45,000 for 'em. But anyways, I agree with you about those 80's/early 90's Mustangs... just butt-ugly:/
Anyways, what I was trying to say in the first part was that the RIAA would most likely have no legal case against YOU, and the most that they could do was get your ISP to cancel your service.
but is just the IP of the person REALLY going to help any? So you might be able to track it down to the computer. Big deal! How exactly do you link *1* person with that computer? How do they know it wasn't your mother/wife/father/child/friend/neighbor/someone robbing your house/pet jumping on the keyboard? It's impossible to make a connection between IP and user. I'm guessing the most they could do is have your ISP stop giving you service.
It's like if the police clock you at 50 over the limit, but they don't catch you. However, they do get your liscence plate number. They have nothing on YOU because anybody could have been driving the car.
I don't think so. Look at it this way. The police have women out there pretending to be prostitutes. If these women go up to the men and ask them if they want sex, that would be entrapment (I believe). However, if the men make the first move, then it's perfectly legal. This is the way it's done on Gnutella. They're merely putting the chance there for you, not trying to persuade you to do anything.
Hey. I'm trying to get people onto this little sub-section of slashdot to post the stories that got rejected on. Check it out... link's in the sig. Not too many people there yet, but I'm hoping that will change. I'd love to see some of the stories that got rejected.
People might not want to have a computer sitting next to their Real Nice Stereo System (tm) in their living room, or this thing might come with a remote.
Also, this doesn't have a fan... no background noise when you're not playing music.
Don't forget the MP3 discman. Burn CDs full of MP3s and play 'em. I got one from easybuy2000.com... took a while to get it in, and the way they make you change dirs on the cd is kinda screwy, but other than that it works great. $125 too, can't beat that.
Yeah, it is great that they're showing Tenchi, but personally, I'm waiting for someone to start playing The Slayers ;)

Bah! That shows his lack of knowledge right there! Everyone knows that REAL hackers write '31337 h4x0r'! Stupid wanna-be's.

The psx2 DOES have a hard drive planned for the US release, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if it will be standard, or an add on, though.

We've already gone over this. It's pronounced C-hash, but the first h is silent. That's the REAL reason for this software. *cough CASH cough*

I'm surprised Sig 11 doesn't have an entire harem by now if that's true ;)

... but who really cares? As long as they put out quality products, does it really matter?
Err, well, maybe you have some stock in Intel or something. I suppose that could explain it.

THIS is what I want... The most beautiful car ever made... *Swoon*

I'm no lawyer, but I think that's grounds for a lawsuit. As much as I hate solving things through lawsuits, NSI deserves it after THAT.

You might be onto something there... C-Hash... CHash... sounds remarkably like 'CASH' doesn't it? This is the real reason MS is making this language.
Although I'm sure we had figured that out already.

Allright, well, so my analogy was flawed.

Gnutella's already slow enough as it is! ... and you want to make it slower?

What? You mean your computer and stereo aren't already within reach of your bed? What kind of geek are you?!

MP3 Discman. It took 3 weeks or so to get it, and the way you change dirs on the CD is screwy, but other than that I'm very satisfied.

They won't ban it. They'll just make Dell put some sort of wacky copy protection on it. Isn't that what they did with the Rio?
