  1. Re:Get this anime off slashdot! on 'AD Police' Makes A Comeback · · Score: 1

Hm, I do seem to recall this site's motto being "News for nerds" not "Technology news for nerds". The creators of the site post news that they think is relevant to the 'nerd' audience. I, being one of those 'nerds', happen to like hearing anime news. I also couldn't care less about Linux, and I'm sure there are many other people who don't as well... so all the news about Linux should be dropped, right?

If you don't want to hear about Anime, block it, and let the rest of us have our conversation without having to hear your crap.

Yeah, maybe, but I have a problem with all you people's obsession with Linux. I don't care about that bullshit, it's best covered elsewhere.

We're sorry, but Slashdot doesn't cater to your personal desires only. There are plenty of people who would like to have intelligent conversations here without having to wade through all your crap. Stop being such a whiner and block the topic if you don't want to see it.

Bleh, come on... Under the "games" category, we hear about great games like Diablo 2, and crap like Daikatana. Sure AD Police may be of much less quality than Mononoke-Hime, but they still both belong under the same heading.

... and as for your last comment, just turn off the category if you don't want to hear about it. Some of us actually LIKE to hear news like this. If they took down all the stories that some people didn't want to hear about, this whole place would be crap. I'm sure a portion of the people that come here don't want to hear anything about Linux, a portion don't want to hear about windows, a portion couldn't care less about DeCSS... This isn't "news that absolutely everyone wants to hear about". Just stop complaining, get on with your life, and let the people who actually want to hold a discussion on these topics do so without having to wade through your whines.

AFAIK, it's perfectly fine... We even had a magnet from the phone company with the reverse lookup telephone number on it. I had used the service a couple times... pretty useful, but it DOES scare me that someone could get your address from just your phone number THAT easily...

ESPECIALLY because of something they forced us to do at my job... (I'm a cashier at a grocery store.. hey, stop laughing!) If someone had forgotten their little savings card thing, we'd ask 'em for their phone number so we could put it in and still track what they buy (you didn't think that your info was just used for check cashing, did you? tsk...) Well, nearly everyone that was asked just blurted out their number (and that was a LOT of people... probably about 1/3 of the customers we got were too friggin lazy to PICK UP A CARD before they left the house...). I wonder how many of those people got unwanted 'visitors' because someone got their address from that service...
