The movie studios have marketing data that shows a correlation between marketing success and profit (or loss, if Stan Lee is reading). Origin stories are easy: characters already well known and script already drafted. Movie studios actively reject smaller markets, like those with new creative intellectual ideas.
The blogger isn't being sued by Benihana. According to the court order translation, he is being sued by a corporation (Las Palmas Company) that owns many restaurants, including the Benihana franchise reviewed.
Of course, Benihana would want to know if Las Palmas is giving them a bad reputation.
Thanks for the link. In the Smith V. Doe case, the court found that the public address listing of convicted sex offenders was primarily for public safety rather than punishment (incorrectly IMO). The published facts of the Evesham situation make it difficult to argue the same, as some of the victims have not yet been convicted, and there is no question of public safety based on the type of crimes alleged. The police readily admit as much:
"This arms the public with information and puts a face with a name," said Evesham police Lt. Walt Miller.
RIAA is an acronym designed to allow these companies to harm people anonymously. Can't we come up with a better acronym from the 'big 4': EMI, Sony, Universal, and Warner?
How about: WSUE - all lawsuit radio
Not using a jury means, mostly, that you don't get the drama/rhetoric content from a US trial
It also means that the state can deprive you of your liberty without the necessity of convincing your fellow citizens why that is a good idea. I much prefer the concept of the jury system.
Prison population rates (per 100,000 citizens):
U.S.; 756
Sweden; 74.
I much prefer the concept of the 'anything but the American prison factory' system.
Sure it is difficult to determine truth with multi-trillion dollar corporate PR campaigns, but it is much easier to determine truth online than with newspapers or TV, mainly because I can open another browser tab and research the issue from other sources.
President of the grammar police, run-on sentence division thank you for reading.
My point was not about Indiana, it was about the study conclusions (hence the title: study bias). Those conclusions represent a tiny population, rather than the entire male population. My satirical post intended to highlight that misconception by bringing the possible perception of young college males by study authors to a grotesque distortion in the name of humor and satire. If the humor or focus was too subtle, or you are too focused on how a particular state is perceived, then it didn't work for you. I do not think IU is backwater at all, and I am sorry you completely missed the point of the post.
This was a study of 280 Indiana undergrads only. Other possible findings from the study of young Indiana men:
1) men think blowing up foreigners is 'real cool!';
2) men reached puberty within past 10 years;
3) men are white with crewcuts and often run around screaming;
4) men do not remember any American president before Bush jr. and he is like, old - you know.;
5) men never held hands with a girl, but each have 14 zettabytes of pron;
6) all men know about feminism is from the Bush administration, video games, and the bible with the carpenter guy in it - and nothing in-between; and
7) men speak only English, and not well.
Now that this has been published, the placebo effect won't work anymore. These drug companies went through all that effort just to build up the placebo effect, and you go ahead and ruin it. Gee, thanks. Bloody do-gooder.
Myspace will also receive an extremely valuable database of kids names and email addresses to spam and sell to spammers. Pretty good deal for Newscorp who owns both Fox and Myspace. They are just starting to cash in on this fear.
Same F.C.C., they are just responding to pressure from an even larger more powerful lobby than the cable guys. From the article:
"consumer groups and phone companies have urged the commission to invoke the rule.". These unnamed 'consumer groups' do not include any that I know represent the public (after a quick check). My guess is they are typical 'consumer' groups created by lobbyists to appear as though they support the public, leading to misleading 'articles' such as this that appear to show the government being supportive of the public. When industry attempts to influence public behavior, they will often use advertisements, er um... articles such as these.

The Catholic church also demonized the use of condoms, further spreading HIV.
Think Progress has updated their site, standing behind the news that "No Net Brutality" was influenced by industry/lobbyists.
