That does raise the question though... how are they determining who is searching for it? Is it based on the results? Image Z returned mostly results from sites whose primary keywords were "porn" and "XXX" so this image is probably porn. Do they have a human just randomly check? or check the ones that the aforementioned programmatic filter found? It seems like there'd be a lot of room for error...
I think it'll still work for for most copyright violations. Web comics in particular could benefit a lot from this. I see unattributed comics floating around on the net all the time. This would be a nice way to allow the owners to at least contact those people and ask to be given credit.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd say it's worth the cost of a piece of paper and a postage stamp to do it. You can get a boilerplate cease and desist and just reuse it as necessary. If you're trying to build a portfolio it's good to make sure that your photos are seen only in *your* portfolio.
I spend a lot of time cruising Flickr for good looking landscapes that I can use for slideshow backgrounds. When you spend a lot of time looking for the same style of image it doesn't take long to find people ripping off other people's images... which can be frustrating when you're trying to ask for permission to use it.
I think the "heard of" part is the crucial part. I don't know how much time it takes to prep a song for the game but it obviously requires some effort... and that costs money. Fresh bands are fun but I have a feeling they're trying to avoid losing money making tracks people won't be that interested in. Although, I must say, I've downloaded a number of RB songs from bands I'd never heard of before after seeing the song on YouTube and liking it.
Largely about money? With RB2 you'll be getting a TON of new tracks for MUCH less than it would cost to buy them individually (or even in a pack). They've also vastly improved the interface and how quickly you can actually get in there an play. They also added free play for drums as well as coaxing Microsoft into adding the ability to allow you to transfer RB1 DLC to RB2... The instruments have been improved too (3 optional cymbals for drums, etc). but yeah, you're right, they're totally just squeezing this one out for the money... ugh.
Me too. Pandora is *awesome* (I'm listening to it now). I started listening to net radio back when di.fm was still DigitallyImported.com and I needed a little music while I was coding.
Now though... I work from home, I don't have a stereo with a radio in it. My only radio is internet radio. This is garbage. Ironically this will mean that RIAA and the like will be getting much less of my money. I'll be finding fewer bands whose music I like, buying fewer CDs as a result and they'll be getting no revenue from the Internet radio I listen to. I'm not sure what makes them think this is a good business choice.
oh no, the people that "help themselves" come to you to... only instead of filling their computer with malware they've used some "tool" to remove "unnecessary" registry entries... or "optimized their computer" by stopping every system process.
wtf?? Since when? That's decimal 2 in binary... not hex. 10 in hex would be the same as 16 in decimal. Maybe you need a little help. Remember, math is FUN.
Exactly... who's dumb enough to really put legitimate answers in those boxes? I always use something nearly as strong as my password and it never has anything to do with the question itself... it's basically just another password. This is a security issue like people downloading "smiley face / screensaver packs" and installing them is a security issue. There's a small stupid percent of the population that this is an issue for... and that's it.
Lol, why does everything have to be for the porn industry. It couldn't possibly have been because it'd be useful for any other group that uses large numbers of photos... Just about any photographer would find it userful... whether it's a wedding or a fashion or a sports photographer. I'm not attacking you personally, there are just so many insane, "well this format won because the porn people picked it" type urban legends that it gets a bit ridiculous after a while.
This has been my experience as well. In my case I had the guy's home address and everything... cops didn't care. It was *only* $500 and they weren't going to be bothered with it. I bet we'll spend billions this year investigating, prosecuting, and housing drug related "criminals" (a.k.a potheads) but protecting our citizens from being robbed isn't flashy enough to be worth their time... and government types wonder why their constituents don't like them.
Oddly enough... at not point in the GP's post did he (it's slashdot, there's no she) ever say that you were a bigot. Nor did he imply that he was offended. He just corrected your spelling and provided a definition. The AC is right... The irony here is just beautiful.
Speaking of cyberwar... So, I google mapped Georgia (I'm reasonably good about knowing geography... but come on, Georgia? Sorry Georgians...) Anyway... I was rather disappointed to find that... there's nothing there. Really odd. Roads end, obvious cities aren't even labeled as cities. It's not like Google did a cursory mapping of it and skipped parts... it's just that aside from the border and the country name it doesn't exist. Also... good luck finding it by typing "Georgia" in google maps. The country isn't even an option. I had to wander through eastern Europe until I got over by Turkey before I saw it.
Seriously... "Red State" used to mean, "Leave me alone and keep the government SMALL." Apparently at some point that somehow got redefined to "ultra religious crazy people that no one in their right mind should agree with." Dunno when it happened but I wish it'd go back. Finding a small government candidate is nearly impossible now.
3 on every corner!? Is this some kind of trick physics question? Are they stacked on top of one another? It's south carolina so... is it segregated by floor or something? "best" race gets 2nd floor, "ok" race gets 1st floor and the one no one likes is in the basement? That doesn't sound very christian. There must be another arrangement...
I know, maybe they're shaped into triangles and they're all built next to each other and they each meet at a point right on the corner of the intersection. So you've got a trinity of triangular churches all in one place. What could be holier?
Or maybe it's a four dimensional question. One building, but three different denominations use it at different times.
Regardless of how they're arranged... I'm confused.
They have to make it look like they're against this sort of thing so that they can keep on doing it themselves. That way the sheeple will believe them in 2015 when they say they aren't doing anything wrong even though there's mountains of evidence pointing to a national database full of illegal surveillance information and biometric data on every citizen.
Ugh, seriously. Some of this browser fanboy warfare has gotten ridiculous. There are very few basic features like cookie options that aren't shared among all of the browsers these days. At this point it's more about esoteric options and plugins / page rendering.
He probably cackled maniacally and shouted over the top of the fireworks, "I made that screen blue! Bill Gates owns the Olympics! Maybe if you dirty pirates had bought a legitimate copy it would have worked better!"
From china? Good luck! They've long since taken any digital recording device that was present and "corrected" the images it captured before returning it to its owner (if they were lucky).
They've got... network cables! and, and, switches and stuff! There's even some fiber there! It's almost like they're trying to get a bunch of people on the Interweb... crazy.
Q.E.D.

Ahh her... she's a fembot... We knew all along, sadly.

Anyone thinking this is bad needs to cruise on over to TheDailyWtf and read this gem about how this particular auto company does business.

Yeah, you'll need to trade it out for a humping USB rabbit.

I thought it was obvious... All of the cushy jobs are in the Air Force... why change that now?
