Can you say that about every single person claiming to be Christian? There were plenty of war crimes in recent history enacted by people with nominally Christian upbringings (of course some will say they weren't "real" Christians). As long as we keep it under wraps and away from the media we're generally feel pretty good about our selves, but if something gets exposed like Abu Ghraib we are shocked(!) that such a thing occurs (even though no one senior was prosecuted) and try to pretend it was an aberration. But someone turns around and say some terrorist wasn't "real" Muslim it gets denied and the bigots and partisans will say "they're all evil". Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition.

American soldiers were accused of rape while defeating the last of the Nazis in Berlin (not as many as the "godless" Soviets, but still). If you say these weren't good Christian boys, then why not say that ISIS aren't good Muslim boys?

I grew up in America and even the stuff reported in American history books is utterly shameful. We're all able to turn a blind eye to the past and pretend we're modern and beyond all that, no matter what country we're from. Some of us will even excuse the past or white wash it. But it's there, and every culture has utter unforgivable atrocities that are only lightly covered up.

If some Muslims hate Christians (which ignores the teachings in the Koran) consider all the crusades in the past. Soldiers heading down to the mideast to get loot. In the west we use "crusade" as an every day word about a righteous struggle against something but see "jihad" as an evil struggle against good. But consider that in many countries that "crusade" is a horrible word about people coming to rape and pillage whereas "jihad" is an internal religious struggle to improve one's self.

Consider events in relatively recent history of the west's savagery. The brits in Kenya against the mau-mau, or torture centers in Aden, the crackdown on Iraq or India, and the engineered Irish famine. In WWII we had American soldiers collect parts of dead Japanese as souvenirs. Germany of course ("but the nazi's don't count!") and Italy. The break up of Yugoslavia. Spanish civil war. My Lai massacre, No Gun Ri massacre. Etc Most of these of course are denied or excused. We're certainly not the good guys. The best you can say about the morals of the west is that we claim to be ever so slightly less brutal than we think the other side is.

Because Israel has done nothing to try and show that they're not hostile. Israel was essentially created by Jewish extremists and terrorists, followed by some collective guilt after wwii. Any time there is any hint at peace talks, someone is assassinated or more settlements are approved. One rocket gets fired into Israel and 100 are fired back in response. Why should its neighbors trust it? Israel could not even exist without support from the US.

Oh also, in D&D computer games, the only way you really know what sort of game world you're really in is that the game engages in an overload of name dropping. Elminster says hello, Drizzt bumps into you, etc. Without the name dropping the background is extremely generic unless you pay close attention to otherwise irrelevant details.

The script though sounds awful. It sounds just as completely awful as the D&D cartoons were. Gygax really didn't know much about what makes a good movie or story.

The problem with D&D is that it is not a story, it's not even a particular setting. It's a game with very loose rules. There's nothing there to really make a movie about. Anything he makes would never resemble any one else's own gaming experience. In some ways *any* medieval style fantasy movie could be a D&D movie. Conan could have been a D&D movie, certainly there were D&D sessions that were very similar. At least his plans were before Forgotten Realms and that dreck.

But Gygax wanted to promote the brand, not make a fantasy movie. That's probably why the cartoons and this script all start with the premise of people from our world ending up in the fantasy world. That's the sort of thing to promote the concept of a game, you the player end up in another world. However it's a really dumb concept, even though it was used in a few fantasy and scifi movies around that time. Of course the problem with the later Dungeons and Dragons movie is that it had no D&D tie ins at all except for the title and a couple of drop ins from the monster manual (combined with a boring story of course).

I have, many many times. It's only recently that the jobs seem much more male dominated. Though there was that time I worked briefly in Finland and the only women on an entire floor of a large building were one admin and one QA, and it really felt out of place to me. Maybe the younger workers don't notice this anymore because they don't remember working back when women were more common in R&D. I mean, I live in "Man Jose" and I still see women in industry.

This just isn't used much by adults; including tech workers, ranchers, business dealers, etc. You mostly only see ties on financial consultants or bankers, or those who have recently moved from the east coast. You don't even see ties worn Sunday in church anymore. If you wear a tie as regular work attire, even as a 40-something adult, you will stand out as an oddity most places west of the Rockies.

Just like Hollywood, there's a huge emphasis on graphics and voice acting rather than substance, a hard deadline which means ship it before it's ready, and too many sequels. These are games desgned to be played once, played for a week, then move on and dump your money into the next thing you hope will be good.

That's a big flaw I see in Windows, OSX, Linux, and some smart phones. You basically can't tell what's using up your resources. Windows can be bad there because so much falls under a couple of executables doing most of the disk writes or net usage, so it's a common question online to find out if "services" or "host" is a virus or not. Android has a nice feature to show which processes are using the most data, though I did have a problem for awhile when so much was coming from Android itself.

OS makers, including Linux distributions, want to turn the operating systems into black boxes and don't like customers asking too many questions about what's going on. That's fundmentally at odds with data caps or low bandwidth internet.

The average user does not know any of this stuff. If you don't know it exists how do you know to go look for it? Windows 8 had a radically different usage than earlier Windows and it did not include any help at all about how to navigate around it (took me twenty minutes to figure out how to shut it down); they did add a few tips in the first update though.

Most consoles are there for the kids really. There are a few serious gamers in the console crowd, but the bread and butter market are those who want something cheaper/simpler than a computer. They're often in houses that don't even have reliable internet, the console is a one time buy and then the games are rented or borrowed or gifts from the grandparents. Even in the middle class houses I can see the big arguments about why is the internet down again and then they find out junior is downloading 20gb for the latest game that will only be played for a week before it's old news.

It's all the mentality at corporations these days; assume all the customers are hipsters, they've all got fat pipe ISPs, they're instagramming all day long, and they love putting everything in the cloud, so they'll never notice a 10gb download. Or they'll put a data cap on they phone customers and then preconfigure their phones to automatically update every application and do backups and replication to the cloud, and charge all of that against the data cap. In reality though, most people in the US have bandwidth issues.
