    There's a big difference between being ab inito intolerant of something someone else is doing that doesn't harm anyone, and being intolerant of that sort of intolerance. Or do you submit that we should tolerate the Klan working to keep minorities as second-class citizens?

    I hope you were being funny, but I've argued with at least one Internet fuckwit who really believed that.

    a) Romney's not that desperate yet, and

    You know, if someone calls you a denier, you should try to understand why - are you simply open-minded, or are you parroting the same old discredited arguments over and over?

    If it's genuinely the former and the caller is an asshole, OK, but give some thought to whether the latter case is true.

    The problem with the AMT is that (as with many things, like minimum wage) it was never indexed against inflation, so every year Congress kicks the can down the road instead of properly fixing it.

    If they'd write these things to automatically take inflation into account it wouldn't be such a problem.

    I stuck a peanut butter sandwich in our VCR once. My mother was /pissed/.

    As to the robustness of the tapes: that depended. Some mfrs used decent quality plastic for the housings, while some others used the thinnest possible junk that would break with the slightest pressure, and it was also possible for the tape to catch on something and then the VCR would eat the tape.
