    Oh, please. The Dems, as usual, are bending over backwards to negotiate.

    The now-standard Republican "negotiating" tactic is to throw a tantrum until they get everything they want. Compromise is when the Dems agree with the Republicans.

    It seems like the more extreme Republicans that are running things in the House don't have a political philosophy so much as they have a religion. It's hard to convince a zealot of anything.

    Not to Godwin my post, but I'm hoping we're not heading into a Weimar Republic here. Congress is getting so dysfunctional that we're in danger of enough people deciding that we need One Leader simply to get things done.

    In 11.04. ISTR reading that GNOME 2.x goes away in 11.10, so yes, you're probably better off sticking with LTS until Canonical un-fucks their desktop environment.

    I believe in the colder parts of the States they switch to #1 diesel in the winter months, because it will still flow at lower temperatures. The cost jump you're seeing could well be from that.

    Diesels are more expensive, in part because they require a turbocharger to get decent performance.

    Diesel fuel in the States is also tens of cents more expensive per gallon.

    Therefore I don't see an economic argument for this thing gaining acceptance.

    In our case, yes, someone /is/ forcing us to support Macs. The university president, for one, and also the head of IT.

    That's a laugh that you can expect a Mac weenie to know what they're doing. Some of mine do, but the majority don't, a proportion similar to my Windows lusers.

    I tend to get my users keyboards & mice with proprietary radios because the Bluetooth equivalents are so goddamn expensive. Many tens of dollars more expensive, and I don't know why.
