If everyone that accessed UseNet just switches to a pay for use news site theres no change in bandwidth... You still download it?
They just save on hardware.
"One of Gawker's commenters jokingly asked what kind of high they'd get from putting a rattlesnake in their anus. "Is it a jumpy high, like cocaine, or a dancey, laughy high, like shrooms, or is it groovy, like LSD? Does anyone know where I could score a rattlesnake in midtown?"
In places like Canada, and Australia you can do free bank transfers without resorting to WesternUnion. Which makes utilizing things like payPal just an added expense.
I never got into the Doom's - I don't care for FPS Gun games. Personally one of my all time favorites was Hexen (ID/Raven).
It was Dark, but not pitch black. It had mood, scary music and SFX. Demons and well thought out Class distinctions with varied weapons.
I wish ID would revisit THAT.
How many machine gun FPS games are there anyway...
What would be preferable to me, is to disallow writes to SYSTEM32 except by a digitally signed HotFix app, which would need to run during updates.
Any program requiring DLLs which match system32 ones, would need to store their revised files in PROGRAMS\COMMON FILES\\SYSTEM32
I actually tested earlier last year, changing the WINNT directory to read only - and forgot I did so...causing blue screen of death ad nauseum on my next reboot weeks later hehe. Apparently you can make the directory and all subfiles read only, except for the specific dir where the registry is: SYSTEM32\Config
The problem is it doesn't help, while you are unable to write new files to SYSTEM32, programs can still change ones that already exist.
The way I got rid of a particularly nasty trojan - they all seem to attach themselves to Winlogon.exe these days - was to change permissions on the files it was calling to disallow ALL even for Admin. Kill Processes/Delete files/Reboot; clean up the remainder.
The registry is hardly going anywhere, but it would certainly be nice if there was a defined and required program API that would alllow you to easily export any settings stored there, without having to manually dig around in the registry and saving out Keys you believe are relevant.
Marshall's domain name registrar, eNom, is based in the US. It apparently didn't learn that his company had been blacklisted for two and a half years. When it did, however, the registrar promptly shut down Marshall's sites without notification and has since refused to release the domain names to him. Marshall has since rebuilt his business using a European registrar and the.net rather than the.com suffix, but his experience raises troubling questions.
Perhaps you meant, "and so long as OEMs keep giving Microsoft their money,"
People just buy computers. The sad thing is a pre-fab with Windows is almost always (significantly) cheaper than building yourself... then you get to tack on an additional $140 (xp) or $200 (vista).
Of course you wind up with better hardware overall, but these days thats starting to matter less and less.
At least XP is notably cheaper than Vista - 2 years ago when I wanted to get a valid license for Win2K, it couldn't be had for much less than 10 or 20$ cheaper than an XP license... AND it was already in end of lifecycle in regards to support.
*chuckle* Yeah thats what I own, a 280E. But I just skin it, not rockbox. But I honestly can't tell much if any difference between the CDs played in a Sony CD/MP3 player and -V4 VBR lame mp3s. Though it kicks the hell outta my 2nd Gen 2gig ipod Nano.

CPU utilization periodically will jump to ~1.56% during playback of all three formats.
Open Source? Yes, but I really don't care about that. Open Source software does not walk on water. The fanaticism re open source gets a bit old. Closed source sux's open source rawks. Tell me something new.
Perhaps, but in all my tests Wavepack beats FLAC hands down.
* Slightly smaller file sizes, and
* Encodes from wav in mere seconds...
Compared to the agonizingly long time FLAC takes to process.

It's not so difficult to reinstall from the OEM Harddrive partition, or OEM image. There are a handful of files that are required in the \I386\ directory of the CD. google: reinstall OEM CD WinXP site: msfn.org
Basically just copy the I386 directory from the HD partition/restore image.

The driving force behind the retreat of the deserts is believed to be increased rainfall.
Better farming methods have also played a critical role, according to researchers.

You should read Dan Simmons Hyperion series :-)
Or perhaps you already have...
I'll be waiting for the Hologram tech to finally come around :-)
It should be easier than the states, since Canada is part of the Commonwealth. Which I believe makes visa's et al much easier.

Africa is a CONTINENT. Not a country.
5 or 10 years down the line... or less. They'll release an official NOCD/NoCallHome patch. A number of games have done so.
