  1. Re:TDS does this as well... on New Jersey's Cablevision Hijacks DNS Error Pages · · Score: 1

There is another alternative to OpenDNS called the Cesidian Root. They have a free DNS service and no hijacking or funny business. Also, you'll be able to access more names than a standard ISP provided DNS service.
    Check them out here http://cesidianroot.net/

Similarly, if 99% of people who bought hammers actually killed someone with them-- I think you would quickly see hammers become illegal.

People would then start killing with a screwdriver or a wrench or whatever else was handy. That's a lame argument dude.

    Ditto!

I would love to try this game but there is no way in hell I'll destroy the system it took me over a year to save up for and build and tweak to my preferences just to play a game.

    TPB for the win!

I use Speakeasy for my service and they actually have a program that allows and encourages you to share your net connection over a wi-fi setup.
They also encourage you to charge for it, but there's no reason why it can't be done for free if you'd like.

We should all start using a more open DNS system like this one http://www.cesidianroot.com/
It's free of US government interference and actually has more than the basic TLD's ICANN forces on us all.

If the ISP's started doing that everyone would have fits about them looking at and filtering your data.
I think it's bad enough that some ISP's may track your bandwidth usage.
Once they start inspecting each packet who knows where it will stop.

I would submit that at this point it is already destroyed!
Anyone showing an interest in a domain will lose it in 24 hours.
Is that how the system was meant to be used?

If I am "backing up your customers' data" and that data includes pictures/videos of child abuse then I am now just as guilty as the customer!.So I would argue that there is justification for searching the contents of a drive before it is backed up on any equipment owned by myself or a company I am working for.
Not really arguing with you but, rather pointing out where it may be reasonable to search the customers system as a repair tech.

awesome vid but, that's not what people will buy to drive to work and haul the kids to soccer practice.
No mention of how far it can travel on a single charge.
Perhaps a combination of this tech and some others may be what we need.
An 11sec 1/4 mile electric car is a great advance but,we need something to replace what we drive now.

Ya know...maybe this kid does have a legitimate gripe with Undernet...he is going about it the wrong way but, anyone who has ever had to deal with a Undernet IRCop can tell you all about how they act like GODS on thier net...same with Cservice...perhaps if they acted more like normal people and actually listend and helped out people once in awhile things like this wouldn't happen. I'd almost dare say that SOME Undernet opers and Ccervix Admins deserve this treatment for thier abuse of the users on Undernet....I'll tell ya this too...if I ever find that root kit I'm not gonna be so quick to be humbled by some lame ass Cservice admin that only got his posistion cause he kissed all the right asses at cservice. It's called karma baby and Undernet opers and admins have ALOT of bad karma built up and now it's time to pay thier bills.....can't wait to take over #ZT on a split...without Uworld they are helpless little opers with ZERO power to do anything really...they have come to depend on Uworld and the Cservice bots waaayyy too much.

  11. free music on the internet on More Napster Updates · · Score: 1

If a radi station can buy a single copy of a CD and play it for free to millions of listeners over the air then why can't I buy a Metallica CD and play/share it over the internet for free??
Is Metallica going to start suing radio stations next?
If I record a Metallica song off the radio and listen to it later is that illegal??
If my friend is at my home and hears the song too is that illegal???
If so then VCR's and tape recorders will soon be outlawed.
We won't be able to tape a baseball game and watch it with a friend later.
I don't see how sharing songs on Napster is any different than taping a TV show or radio broadcast and playing it later for a friend
    Anyone else feel the same???
