Since the article doesn't have the specs handy and the link to the specs turns out to be a huge JPG file (brochure, apparently), anyone have the specs handy?
What 3d chipset?
Screen resolution?
Power consumption?
dimensions?
You've got it the wrong way around - people won't use this to create alibis before committing a crime, they'll use it to establish evidence of the target being in a certain area at a certain time even though he swears he was elsewhere
At any rate, certain requirements have to be met before something can be introduced as evidence. I'm assuming most things (like this) would, by default, not constitute evidence anyway. Email (at least in this country) needs to be provided along with an audit trail before it's accepted as evidence
The worst part is that the government hasn't figured out that some contractors, with few exceptions, are just routinely bad and should be avoided at all costs.
What makes you think they haven't figured it out? There is good money, bad money, corrupt money, etc... but the best type of money is *my* money, ie money in my hand. Frankly, if I was purchasing something that's of no benefit to me I'd hardly bother with quality, I'd just like to keep as much money in my hands as possible.
For example *ahem* if I was forced to purchase something (say, furniture) for ex-wife after she moved out, why would I bother spending money on anything more than patio chairs and a plastic table?
Well, isn't this normal? We create as many tables as we need during normalisation, and then create views/stored procs/frontend scripts/whatever for the user to use.
Sounds like they only did the half the job. The other half still needs to be done - I see no "crippling" here.
I agree - SC is almost perfectly balanced as it is, all most fans want is better graphics and tcp support.
In fact, I wouldn't mind an SC/D2 port for a handheld with a touch screen, and because of the low requirements of SC it should run just fine on something like the gpx2/F200. I'd rather have the hours of fun on a handheld than by booting up a computer just to play sitting at a desk. I'd imagine that just those two games ported to the F200 would very quickly make it one of the top-selling handhelds:-)
Come to think of it, I'd love to port SC and D2 to the F200 - I wonder how much a licence will cost....
I have to agree with the grandparent post. Sure, Ray Bradbury is important in the sci-fi world. But is he anymore important than say Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison?
Yes.
The people who shape others thoughts by means of art, culture, analogy and metaphor are and always will be revered. The people who contribute to the economy today are merely remembered, not revered. There is a very good reason for this.
There are actually Creative Commons projects focused on providing free textbook materials on lots of subjects. If you contributed to such a project, the project coordinators would take on the role of the publisher, without gouging their clients.
Thanks I'll look into it, and then try to persuade my boss that it's a worthwhile use of my time.
Ha! Good luck with that - no ISBN, no credit (well, at the research institution I'm at, thats the way it is).
Whenever you want to use a language, you must learn it first. That's true even of Visual Basic. The reason you see those problems of yours as "gotchas" is that you don't understand how the language (and, in the case of C++, the computer) works. If you let the language shape your thoughts instead of trying to cram your crummy thoughts into C++, it would have been much easier and simpler for you. I used to think like that when was still a C++ programmer, until one day I read an FAQ somewhere that details the possible differences between "f(a++)" and "f(a); a++;". That's when I saw the light and seriously switched to Java. I think when a normal person looking at a normal piece of code cannot know what it will do, there is something wrong with the programming language.
Quick question (which I always used to interview candidates claiming familiarity with C++):
What, if any, are the differences between 2 programs, one using "f(a++)" and the other "f(a); a++;"? For added fun, also compare "f(++a)" and "++a; f(a);".
Hint: If you answer "no difference" you don't know enough about C++.
More hint: there are at least 2-3 ways where the result of the program can differ significantly, depending on the signature of f(), the actual type of a, how is operator ++ defined for that type, etc.
Your entire argument is wrong - you must have gotten confused by something like "f(a++) + a", because the examples you give are all well-defined.
I can admit I was once tempted to snoop because I was dating a coworker but my damned personal ethics got in the way and I decided to trust her instead. Yeah it turns out she was lying through her teeth but there are other ways to tell if someone is lying that are far better than snooping through email which may or may not be out of context.
You're an idiot (I mean it in a good way - I'm an idiot in the middle of a divorce right now:-). When it comes to matters of the heart, you must assume a variation of the "trust but verify" policy. Someone/Something tells you he/she is cheating? Check it out without letting them know.
If you *ever* get the chance to check up on
your partner without going out of your way or letting them know about it, do it. Nothing makes you feel better than finding that your suspicions were unfounded without them having to deny wrongdoing. It also leads to *more* trust in them.
However, if you find out that they've been less than honest with you, then it's time to leave. Either outcome is desirable and preferable to the
new-age "If I check up on them it must mean that I don't trust them, so I will pretend to trust them by not checking up" crap.

some mod on crack is reading this thread - whats with all the troll mods? This isn't a troll!
Formula Zero,' like Forumula 1, can become a forum
I have to wonder, was that on purpose?
Sounds like an excellent idea - let me know how it turns out
Thankfully I see that the moderators have been sufficiently humoured

Dammit
On a pyramid, certainly acceptable.
Little Bobby Tables, I think you'll find

actually, forget the blackjack
damn mods with no sense of humour
Or, steal ideas from idiocracy
On the contrary, it sounds like they get it perfectly
redundant?
What computer or OS options did you have? I only had windows as an option for playing starcraft (even if I emulate windows).

Don't stop - try Terry Pratchett. "Small Gods" is a good one.
s/proceeded/preceeded/g
At least make some damn effort - I'm seeing more of this type of errors than is acceptable. Also, it is not for all instensive purposes.
If you're going to act profound, at least get your fucking language right.
