this is something that i was really struggling with.
i have started to buy the parts for a audio workstation centered around Ableton Live 7 and a whole slew of VST's -- many of which are very CPU-intensive.
i never really got a very clear answer on which would benefit me the most CPU-wise. i'm willing to go either way. i'm a fan of AMD for many reasons, but i'm not sure which would deliver more performance with those VSTs: AMD or Intel (going quad core either way)
exactly. TIA and the military of today would make that damn near impossible. you might get some shots in, maybe take out a couple of dudes, but ultimately you would be shot in your bed or in the street.
"they" have such tight controls and have laid such groundwork as it, at this point, just not possible for us to depose the morons in power.
we could, but we *won't*..we won't throw these fucking tyrants out because, because people are fucking sheep.
individuals can't do it, because they'll be arrested and/or shot in the process. we would have to have the whole fucking populace just up and storm the capital buildings, oppressive police districts, etc.
i mean, all at fucking once -- and that's never going to happen.
the slow, steady decline into authoritarianism has no foreseeable end. god, it's depressing.
it's almost enough to make me want to just end it all.
what i mean is, they don't go into checked luggage, they go with me as carry-on.
and yes, i know that they can do whatever the fuck they want and get away with it.
but what really burns my ass (other than the obvious bullshit with the TSA) is the increasing authoritarianism in the US. and what else really gets me is that people in other countries criticize Americans for this as if we had some say-so in the matter.
because i failed it twice. i went to tutor after tutor, to the tutoring lab, etc. nothing helped.
only through the help of a good professor did the material finally click.
she was an MIT-educated mechanical engineer (and left-handed like me -- that right-brained-edness)
and i passed with a high 'B'. she left after that semester, and i don't know where she teaches now. i'm one of those morons whose brain simply cannot accept "that's the formula and that's just how it is". i have to know *why*, or it just doesn't sink in.
i was a language major, the math classes served only to torment me.
when i was a Japanese language major, i wished i could have opted out of my math classes which eventually cost me my fin-aid and put me on academic probation when i had previously been on the dean's list.
that's just it. it's not that i don't see the appeal of the touring rock musician, it's just that it comes with a heavy price that few, over the long term, can pay and still come out better for it.
most of us aren't that lucky. and i'm not going to play the lottery with my music. besides, the stuff i write would be more at home on an indie label or (hopefully) an industrial and/or electronic label. i'm ok with a regular day job if i still get to make my music. i still get to have digital distribution all over the world, and not have to go into debt with a label.
i'm recording my album out of my own pocket, and that's fine by me. i've fucking earned it and i'm going to do this. and it will remain my creation.
this thread really brought out the trolls...
AKA "corporatism"
that's a nice military base you've got here...

yeah, besides...everyone knows the skies over Beijing are red.
duh.
the sky may be blue, water may be wet, etc.
yup.
you hit the nail on the head.
getting enough people to organize without being marginalized or harassed by the LEA is difficult.
since i don't have the money to make myself heard, i do it through my music and through the message in that music.
we each have our own way.
well, nowadays they'd brand a person like that a terrorist.
furthermore, if you think the weapons the police have are dangerous, think about what the military has.

correct.

LOL
no, i just keep them on my person.
which is why my laptop, camera, and phone never leave my sight.
jesus christ.
i'm mailing my shit next time.
dude, i'm talking about some basic algebra crap here.
seriously, i'm terrible with math.
don't flame me. it's hard enough owning up to it.

because of a goddamned math class.
damn my lack of mod points.
it's same rhetoric as that "for the children" crap.
i read that article a while back -- very informative stuff. he makes a good case for the independent artist.

oops..can't forget having some to sell at shows.
which is where i'm going when the album is finished.
most of the physical copies made will be for promotion only.
