exactly. but people don't care or don't seem to realize how badly they are being fucked by the wireless companies.
i read an article recently that assessed the cost per MB given the size of a 160 character text message and found that it's actually cheaper per MB to send/receive data from the Hubble Telescope.
because, as the previous poster mentioned, coupling it with NoScript (along with a good AdBlock list) can ensure that you see little to none of that crap.
i've been doing it quite a while and it has saved me from so much potential bullshit on my computer.
i get a few calls a week (cable hsi support) from people with these scareware programs on their machines. usually, i recommend they get a professional to clean their computer or will even go so far as to recommend a full system wipe.
it may take an hour or so to reload Windows, the drivers, system tweaks, etc. and only a few minutes for them to go right back to the same sites that got them there in the first place.
not only that, but getting your average user to use Firefox, let alone NoScript...forget about it.
exactly. but i remember hearing a story in the late 90s about the guy who founded Qwest was heir to a railroad company or something. basically, he sold off all the land around the tracks except for a certain number of feet on either side of the tracks. the trains were then outfitted with something that would automatically lay fiber.
"I do think, however, that once this vaccine is vetted it should be given to males as well as females."
a salient point, to be sure. i tend to be very critical of the very religious, but mostly due to their involvement in politics.
more specifically, i mean religious organizations, while retaining their tax exempt status, still participating in political areas where they have no business.
these are the same people who advocate abstinence-only education and seem totally oblivious to the teen pregnancy and STD rates that are a direct result of the lack of education these kids have.
perhaps so, but it doesn't mean that they should put their daughters' future health at risk because she might give into her natural hormonal urges and/or because her boyfriend is persuasive enough.
i just don't think that their disapproval of sex is enough to warrant the possible future health risk.
how angry would Jenny if she stayed a virgin but still ended up with cervical cancer because her parents thought it give her an excuse to have sex?
it's not necessarily on par with the Christian Scientists who refuse modern medicine for their child, but it's not that far behind.
well, perhaps i was overstating. allow me to correct and clarify:
regarding the religious reasons behind the HPV vaccination, the assumption that their daughters will become instant sluts is unfounded. but i also feel that it's for the good of the women to get the HPV in the event that the man they marry (even if the women are virgins) aren't as pure as their brides.
regardless, there are still fundie morons who insist the aforementioned assertion. they conveniently forget, or do not know, that it is for their daughters' protection as their future husbands are not likely to enter marriage as virgins.
this.
RE4 was awesome.
there was Shadowgate 64, but it sucked.
you can do a little of that in the Silent Hill series which is fun....
i know it's not. but it seems strange to charge to see something that has such an impact on your life.
like paying to see your credit report?
"This model seems to work fairly well for the mobile phone industry, and the pricing is transparent and sustainable."
and we've seen what they charge for text messages. i don't trust that.
"The bandwidth simply isn't there to support everyone doing that, and when commodities are scarce, prices go up."
and referring to bandwidth as a commodity seems a little like fallacious thinking.
i see. well, it's not me. i've just started noticing his/her posts recently.
who is this "brown rope" moron?
it's more of that stupid notion that the ISPs are trying to get away with double-dipping their customers.

it's pretty insane.

wtf?
talking about "pay per use" with other things like GPS, etc.
fail.
or you could reload, install the drivers/apps; update, and then Ghost the drive to an external HDD.
i want to add to your comments.
i'm with you on the young people bit. kids today are fucking idiots (for the most part). i wouldn't let a teenager *touch* my computer.
and yes, there are idiots of all ages and genders.
of all the users i've talked to who had this on their computers, only one or two actually paid the money.
they weren't very pleased with me when i told them what they had just done.
i'm not the one who spent their money; they were just mad because felt really fucking stupid for being duped.
that Messenger service was turned off by default in SP2

i think that "networking" teacher should be shown the door.

this could be total crap, but i don't know.
