    With systems as sencitive as the ones used in the shultel they would not be conected to a open network at all. Maybe I am wrong but if you remove such sensitive systems from an open network you make it much harder get into it.

    ALSO it is nice to see a news source get it right, damn it they were crackers not hackers (also for those of you in the Pittsburgh region, the City Paper got it right in an artical "the 8 things hackers hate about you" where they tell the lay-people what the diff between a hacker and a cracker is.

    unfortaly not all schools use ssh, I am down the road from you (Pitt) and some times with I try to ssh in I get a rejection because "protocall unknonw".

  7. Wow I got realy luck with my IIIe on Memory Problems (And Fixes) For Palm-OS Devices · · Score: 1

    This is the secont time I feal my decition to get the IIIe saved me. Frist time was when I got what I belive to be a virue for my palm (it started to act realy strang and had a fatal exception ever 10 minutes) so I use the following 2 carateristics in the palm IIIe to my advantage, 1 no flash rom 2 after a minut with out batters all data is lost, so I backed up the palm with pilot-xfer and deleted all the .prc files keeping the pdb files and when to watch tv 30 minutes later put the batters back in and installed the pdb files, problem gone. and now this with the faulty memory. Yes I don't have to worry.

    But was not the reson for America breaking way from the British all those years ago because of taxes?
    If I am right with that, then why do we put up with taxes now.

    Also, do what I plan on doing when I graduate collage, and leave this poor excuse for a state (maybe the realname might shed some light, it is not realy a state it is a "common wealth", is not china also a common wealth, ie steal from the people to work hard to make a living and give to the lazy who just sit at home and do nothing, dont get me wrong, welfare was a good idea but a lot of poeple abuse it)

    Slac is a very fine dist, it nice not to be forced to use gnome or kde (both of which I do not like, I am a fvwm man) Red Hat amlost forced you to use those 2, last time I installed RH I had to deinstall gnome then kde before I could even get it to bring up fvwm (and that when I mad a link from twm to fvwm.) I hope slac never changes!

    I know how to save minutes on boot up, done shut down, that is what I do. I never boot (unless there is a power falure, then I am forced to boot, or if I upgread the kernal, I have to do that so my computer has been on for over a month now)

    It is dangeriose enoph as it is, people constrating more on their conservation then on their driving, This is getting too much, I am not against it in principal, but once you give it to the comman man (woman) you will have idiots trying to drive and play a game at the same time, well at lest they are doing text based game (timing not as inportant) instead of a real time game (if they ever do that I turn in my drivers licence in the interst of self peservation.

    The following is based on what a friend of a friend said, I make not gaurantys about it,,
    OK now that the BS is out of the way -------

    I don't think MS will ever relice any of it source, maybe NT to people who will sign non-discloser agreements but not the 9x ones, and here is why (that part from the friend of a frined) This person was dealing with MS to get windows source code for use in a collage class, the MS rep was pushing NT but he whanted 9x, finaly the MS rep said that MS was imbaresed about the way the 9x code looked, and how it was put together.

    A good thing to do is to email the system adminstrator (and please be curtius to them the are also people to) and inform them that their systems have been abused. I resintly got a job as a system adminstrator, and inharted a network with a few open systems ( no one told me about them) and some on abused them, I got one nice message that informed me of the problem, which I was greatfull for, and one message threating me with physical violance, which I would have prefered not to have goton, plus 300+ bounce message (the anti-spam address that are out there) the resone I got them was that when they bounce back to him they bounce to my inbox. I glad to have killed the open problem (I now love the smtpd program)

    p.s. if any of you got a message from emmy.mse.pitt.edu I appologize about it.

    Sounds like that is something that would happen.
    What I think thought is that a ISP (at lest this day in the age) should put up some kind of protection from a DoS attack, to help the costomers who could be hit that way. How hard could it be (correct me if I am wrong in the following assumption) but don't all DoS originat from the same location (I will assume same IP here), and if so could one put a limimt how much a locatoin can get?

    Pennsivania is so backwards when it comes to technology, and stupid things like this just proves it, and they can not figure out why the hell students here in PA when we get our degrees leave. They are now having a campain to "keep PA's youth in PA" I meet the Goviner because of it. It was when he anound the tech scholoship stuff. I just know I more than likly be leaving PA when I get my degree there is no future here for me.

    1) if I have a CD can I copy it to tape for use in my car

    2) if there is a song played on the radio can I tape for play at a later date

    3) if I have a CD can I encode it to MP3 for use on my computer

    (assuming I don't distribut it)
