Too bad the opposite isn't true, I wish I could find a profession where the now-rare skills of good spelling and grammar are valued...and no it isn't journalism.
Empathy for a mass-murderer? I think not. If he wanted to protect his families he could fly them out of there, or at worst, set up a defended compound.
Are the majority of the rebels really Islamic extremists or are they just a few unfortunate hangers-on?
Everything they put out is in the form of conspiracy theories which make the US government look untrustworthy, make the rebels look like just a bunch of Islamic terrorists, and hint at some NWO-like conspiracy. Distrust of government, bogeyman of the day, shadowy international elite, the 3 G-spots of the American conspiracy theory receptor. Wham bam slam, thank you ma'am.
If you deflect the truth in a way that is more conspiratorial in the same manner, it then becomes much harder to bend it back where it belongs (see also: global warming "debate.") A form of sabotage that is massively difficult to undo and only takes a bit of clever design effort to perform.
On one hand, your typical AQ member is probably dumb enough to try to get hired at the CIA...on the other, the CIA is probably dumb enough to think that anyone from a certain region of the middle east is a terrorist even if they are just as closely connected to Kevin Bacon...hey, they blow people up with drones for the same.
The SEA may be evil and a bunch of amateur ankle-biter hackers, but whoever's writing content for them is a scary-smart genius. They know how to attack and exploit the minds of average Americans way better than the SEA could hope to do with computers. It's amazing how brilliantly the content is tailored for its purpose.
Would your local ecosystem that's been unaccustomed to the pests handle the invasion well? What if it's a built up area with no meaningful room to grow crops, but still room to host pests? What if it was an area that could host the crops but not the pests, and can now also host the pests?
I'm just sick of seeing their astroturf comments underneath Reuters articles. They would have been shitty enough without their help. That and they're also providing propaganda for a mass-murderous despot...
I wonder if the selfish and short-sighted people who want global warming to continue because they live in areas that would benefit are still so enthusiastic...but I guess pests are as at least as easy to ignore as wars, refugees and food shortages.
I learned how to make Ishikawa/fishbone cause-and-effect diagrams for this post, but then decided that it was overkill to present this information. So instead I'll direct you to read the summary again, which points out some of the actors in this conspiracy.
The point is to create an oversupply, and there is a two-pronged method to acheiving this: First, to create more STEM workers locally through the "STEM crisis" myth, and second, to import more foreign labor. This also gives cheaper local labor if the government ever makes it harder to use foreign labor.
Why not? If they have the keys and a capture of your traffic, they can decrypt it afterwards, meaning there's no need to do a MITM that might set off some defenses in your browser.
Maybe he's the world's most sophisticated and patient pyromaniac?
AKA Greybeards.

Their hackers are dumb but their propagandists are smart.

They already do this...but not for any altruistic purpose.

Do you think everything is so simple?
Have your fun...

Didn't even work that into a Monty Python Spanish Inquisition reference? Lame. We expect better of Slashdot trolls.
Only if you discount ocean warming and the effects of La Nina and the pacific decadal oscillation. Otherwise it's right on track.
It may not be a great reason to go to war...but I think it's a better one.

I would be really happy if a cruise missile blew up SEA headquarters, if they have one. Or their mothers' basements if not.
LOL Mod Funny! XD
It's not a fictional bogeyman, it's a real opinion I've heard from real people including Slashdot users.

Finally an irrational national mentality I can get behind! :D
Virtually all accidents are caused by speed. Immobile cars are usually unoccupied and don't get into accidents.

So now who do you think is behind this?
Sure you're not speaking to an AI? Or maybe one person handling many conversations through text-to-speech interfaces?
