Yep advertising can be good, a great way to fleece stupid companies into supporting things that we like for no good reason. It's the bread and butter of free online services and a lot of sports.
I don't believe that but I'd love to see what some libertarians think about it. Of course they'll never admit that monopolies could be a problem even if they'd form in an unregulated marketplace, which they totally wouldn't.
I only have so many terabytes and megabits per second, which of these torrents should I help preserve? Anything? I mean they're pretty well-preserved already I think, and totally legit so it's not like anyone's trying to get rid of them...
Randism does account for failure - if you fail, too bad, so sad, sucks to be you. Randism offers no safety net for failure and makes no apologies about it, in fact it considers the fear of failure to be a sign of personal weakness, basically calling anyone who doesn't want to take on a ruthless objectivist world a pussy who knows they suck.
not even the most progressive American or European voter would be willing to make the kinds of sacrifices necessary to make meaningful reductions in carbon emissions
Damn right. I want to know my electricity is coming from dirty, sooty coal. The thought of it coming from nuclear power plants and windmills would make me feel like a third-world slum-dweller. Every twisty bulb that replaces a heat-spewing incandescent is another piece of my accomplishments taken away. And the day that my car goes "weeng" instead of "vroom" is the day I know that I have truly hit rock-bottom.
Not even Microsoft is really supporting gaming on Windows anymore, they have to keep the best stuff Xbox-exclusive (thus no Forza or Halo co-op on PC).
According to conservatives the superiority of capitalism over communism was demonstrated by Reagan's game of economic chicken. The Russians crashed first. But boo spending, BOOOOOOO!

Maybe there was *a* summer as hot in '36 but it's definitely hotter overall than '36.
Either a cold winter doesn't disprove AGW or this absolutely proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

To err is human. To really fuck things up, you need a computer.
Most addictive naturally-occuring drug, of all drugs it's #3 IIRC behind a couple of anti-psychotics.
Threefold? I've seen real-world numbers for 10% more for renewable electricity.
If they put their money where their mouth is, they'll move or build themselves biodomes & AC-suits, and not complain about it one bit.

The conservatives of most other countries are at least as "green" as your Democrats.
The plugins are no longer broken by updates and memory wastage is going down, those were my two big complaints...
They were watching massive ordnance penetrators attacking and blowing their payloads in various soft targets :D
