Yep advertising can be good, a great way to fleece stupid companies into supporting things that we like for no good reason. It's the bread and butter of free online services and a lot of sports.
I don't believe that but I'd love to see what some libertarians think about it. Of course they'll never admit that monopolies could be a problem even if they'd form in an unregulated marketplace, which they totally wouldn't.
I only have so many terabytes and megabits per second, which of these torrents should I help preserve? Anything? I mean they're pretty well-preserved already I think, and totally legit so it's not like anyone's trying to get rid of them...

Every twisty bulb that replaces a heat-spewing incandescent is another piece of my accomplishments taken away. And the day that my car goes "weeng" instead of "vroom" is the day I know that I have truly hit rock-bottom.
Not even Microsoft is really supporting gaming on Windows anymore, they have to keep the best stuff Xbox-exclusive (thus no Forza or Halo co-op on PC).
