(The author added the armbands on purpose so every stupid idiot would [know] what the Nightwatch was about.
The in-your-face, almost self-parodying obviousness of the Nazi parallelism in the original V series is what ruined it for me, so I don't think I could put up with it a second time...
Security, yes, but not the money to do anything significant which was sort of the GP's point. Any extra money they save up isn't going to afford much more than a slightly larger cheetos and videogame budget or maybe some cool decals for their rusty '98 Civic. I doubt they've put off buying their own place just because they didn't feel like it.
Securing the network on Windows is just about impossible. It was originally designed when computer security was nothing but a far-out concept and attempts to retrofit security into it without tossing out the basic design have been unsuccessful so far, actually securing it would require a silly level of hacked-up modification (try to prevent wifi dual-homing, I dare you). Toss out Windows, start with a custom Linux distro and go from there. Network-booting machines secured with in-house-administered TPM will be extremely hard to break into. Allow centralized control of all software so that any change to a computer's OS that wasn't signed off on by the IT department sets off the biggest red flag in the world.
It can be done but not while trying to pussyfoot around with commercial consumer-grade toys.
With iOS - well, I don't have one, but I imagine there are lot of people who think "it *can't* have malware, Apple checks everything!" and therefore completley trust anything in the app store.
Any iOS user who think this after a tethering app was slipped through as a flashlight app deserves whatever they get.
Over time democracies degenerate into mob rule. A constitutional republic -- the constitution to protect individual rights, republic to pick someone to represent you -- is much preferred.
Because it degenerates into an oligarchy instead?
(that's an argument I've actually seen conservatives make).
I get very nervous when I hear otherwise thoughtful people say "we can't have real democracy because people are stupid". From all appearances, our elected representatives who are supposed to be the buffer between the masses and government appear to be at least as stupid as the masses. I can't see that we'd do any worse by direct democracy.
One thing for sure, it would remove a huge layer of corruption from the process of governing. At the moment, the weak point seems to be our electoral system, campaign financing and the fiction that "money=speech".
Your last sentence conflicts with the rest of your post. The GP is basically right. If it weren't for Wikipedia's controlling cabal of neckbeards it would be something like a Wikipedia/Conservapedia/Yahoo Answers hybrid. Not that I advocate similar approaches in politics or think that it's a particularly good situation.
Call me a partisan nutjob but I can't see any possible legitimate argument to vote pro-racism or anti-gay rights, unless you consider "I'm racist/homophobic as fuck" to be a legitimate argument.
And this is why I think massive wealth disparities are bad. If the lower classes weren't living hand-to-mouth and the middle class had enough money to take any risk whatsoever, we'd all be better off than the current situation where we all keep our noses to the grindstone so that our hyper-rich overlords can do cocaine off of hookers' asses while cruising on megayachts.
In addition going beyond the phsyical having a mixed crew for such a long duration introduces even more potential psychological factors that can result in failure of the mission.
You guessed right! A previous attempt was made with a woman on crew and...well the psychological factors caused a guy to snap.
What extremely heavy physical work can you do regularly on a sub? Did they make you haul heavy stuff from one end to the other and back, or put you on an exercise machine with orders to do 500 reps or what?
(*) Maybe its a myth but I once heard that during the Vietnam war the US Navy wired up some pilots to record vital signs related to stress. Pilots were more stressed during night carrier landings than on combat missions near/over Hanoi (a very hazardous area for these pilots).
Makes sense. It's easier to dodge AA fire or a missile than to fix a bad carrier approach.

Anything remotely leftist or anti-establishment is funded by the dark lord George Soros, don't you read Fox News?

THIS
Mod parent up!
That's assuming that corporations can fully brainwash and control the population. Which is a fairly reasonable assumption...

The only people who matter are the top 1%; everyone else needs to worship them and sacrifice so they can have more, it's the American Way.
And there's the last three decades of American politics summed up in a single sentence.
I thought it was Mexico.
No they are looking into this, we've seen the stories before on Slashdot.
Nothing of value was lost.
IT'S SHOWTIME!
Oh, you're actually a troll. That actually makes me feel better. Your lulz are well-deserved sir.

Tried it before, things got a little sexual assault-y, that's why there was an all-male crew this time.
Haha that's the first thing I thought of XD

An employee with a user account is not the same thing as an astroturfer.
Any company running an astroturf campaign using anon accounts is wasting their time.
I'm no big fan of Google (although I don't have a massive hate-on for them, as you do). Also did you look at the guy's post history?
