    This is why they are impacting an asteroid that is already orbiting another larger asteroid

    1 They can park an orbiter to monitor the effects

    2 The impactor will only make a slight change in it's existing asteroid centric orbit thus preventing any significant change in it's solar orbit.

    Can you give a general outline of how to make such study that can demonstrate causality and get past ethics committee?

    Take 2 groups of Paedophiles post release from prison give one group access to the robots and measure the re-offending rates in both groups.
