Flamebait? Seriously? That's pretty funny. I guess that's what I get for arguing about how illogical the parent's post was. Maybe I should avoid emotion, you bitches can't seem to handle anything past a whisper. Bunch of candy asses IMHO.

You know I see this type of response here all the time and you know what? It's not a legit response. Just because there was no lawsuit for a completely different product does not mean this one is baseless or unfair. Anytime an apple product is shat upon someone has to come out of the woodwork and point out another inferior product, like that makes it all okay. Well, no, it doesn't.

That is a good question and now I see your point. I'm not sure about the rules there. I think these type of questions should be asked though and I think that's what these groups are saying. They want to be sure no one is skirting the rules and a little inquisitive inspection is probably warranted. In such a position your expectation for privacy is limited, just because the power you wield could easily be abused. It's not asking too much IMHO. They know this going in.

Nah, you have to register as a federal lobbyist, the Lobbying Disclosure Act and Honest Leadership and Open Government Act cover this. There isn't any vague area here.

Once you get into a public trust position you are expected to keep your contact with certain people, like lobbyists and contractors, strictly professional. If you have a personal relationship with someone you have to work with in this capacity it will be a problem and you will be expected to break it off or quit your position. There are rules outlining everything from gifts to phone calls. There isn't any room to maneuver here with the "yeah but what about the grandmom that gave us $100" defense. This isn't about her. This is about your "friend" over at Big Oil telling you to keep cameras off the beach in Pensacola because it might look bad, etc. A legit need for oversight.

Never mind shaking the foundation of capitalism at the same time, validating administration critics that they will use opportunism to favor socialization of some sectors. I'm not sure I can ever agree with seizing a company because it's basically reneging on an agreement between the government and the company. These circumstances should be accounted for by raising the liability and that will help slow the amount of errors they make because put simply their insurance, whatever it may be, will go through the roof as the risk goes up.

I would bet we will see quite a lot of speculation and price fluctuations soon based on how congress reacts to this gigantic mess. They've already voted against raising the liability once.

I think it's more about the Pakistani government trying to appease the hardliners. They tend to kowtow to the religious factions in the country, because without them they cannot maintain power.

I agree about the aspect though - if your beliefs require faith, how can you ever force it on someone? Faith by nature comes from within. No external force can change that.
