Fucking bullshit. Teenagers like me wanting easier access to porn invented the internet. When we found out we could get porn without an embarrassing trip to the gas station, pay-per-view bills or the local smut shop, the fucking doors flew off the BBS's. The entire information came to be because hordes of horny 16yr olds wanted to masturbate in their basements in peace.
We have 2 political parties in this country. They dictate the issues. The write the rules governing how you create a party, how you get on a ballet. Nearly everyone in the media belongs to one of the two parties. The parties control the message. You basically can not vote for anyone if they do not belong to one of the parties. You can write in a name, but the fact of the matter is it's nearly impossible to co-ordinate a write-in voting effort.
Our government is controlled by a single party. They appear to be 2 parties, but in reality they both act the same. They have slightly differing goals but they trade and make deals to get what they want in every bill. They are effectively the same party with 2 differing internal factions that argue over details. The Patriot act DID get passed after all... So did Obamacare... It's all a show.
Prison for praise is not worth thinking Sin is still in and our ballots are shrinking So unleash the dogs - the only solution Forgive and forget, fuck no I'm talking about a revolution
Prison for praise - the obvious answer Once had power mad - living disaster Don't fuck with me 'cos I'm on a freedom train That bears no name - this time I'm voting with a bullet
Bonus points if you know who wrote that without using Google;-)
Same cause. They're eating too much. Over abundance of food and they have no concept of obesity or early death. There have been studies that have shown links between abundance of food, Obesity, early death and advanced genetic mutation. In short, in the wild, if you've got lots of food, you get fat and live even if you have a mild mutation. You have a better chance of passing on your mutated genes but as a trade off you die early which extends the abundance of food situation for your offspring.
Personally I'm a bit tired of all of these media invented excuses. If you're overweight in almost all cases with very few exceptions it's YOUR fault. You eat too much. You eat crappy food. And you likely have all sorts of psychological excuses to make the above two points plausibly not your fault in your own mind.
While going to college I worked as a cashier at a grocery store for a while and saw it all. Morbidly obese people coming in on Food Stamps or other government assistance because they were "Disabled" due to their weight, and using those funds to buy almost entirely junk food. And no small amount either. Cases upon cases of Soda, frozen chicken wings, etc... The ironic part was they seemed to feel he most guilty at the checkout and I, their cashier was their confessor. So they'd tell me all about how this was the "Diet" Swanson's family pack of salsbury steak yet they still couldn't lose any weight!!!
Too each their own, if you want to eat until you're 500lbs and die of a heart attack at an early age? If you think "Big is beautiful" or whatever the catch phrase is now... great! I'm cool with that. But lets not let people lie to themselves. Yes there may be a lot of environmental factors that make gaining weight easier now, and you may have some societal engrained habits that are hard to break, but the choice is still yours. There's no undiscovered bacteria that's going to make you obese even if eat salads all day (yes, I've had people tell me this was why they were over weight) It's a very simple process, eat less... a lot less, and you will lose weight. There is no such thing as big boned, you are not just a "big person" you can be as skinny as any person on TV if you want, although maybe not as attractive and successful, at least you wont die at 45.
Yes I realize that now every obese person with a Grande Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino in their hand is going to mod me down this morning... but hey, I'll outlive you anyway, so mod away!
I manage an application/server suite that includes some mail functionality. In the 5 years I've been doing it I've only ever had to enter 1 domain into the blacklist... linkedin.com
It remains, to this day, the only site in the blacklist.
You mean Greenwald is manipulating the public? Good! His goals, be they of self interest or not, coincide with my goals. I want the public outraged by this, so things will change. He wants them outraged so he can get famous. Sounds like a fare trade to me.
I think everyone harbors 'intelligent design sympathies' as you put it. The deists believe the soul and intelligence is other worldly and wholly separate from the physical. Where-as the atheists seem hell bent on the idea that intelligence and self awareness are illusions or somehow not real. Both refuse to believe that the mind, understanding and all spirituality is actually a part of this real and physical world. Of all the complex and seemingly intractable questions about the universe we have, the most complex, most unbelievable question we face is the thing that is closest to home. The fact that the human mind exists at all is so unfathomable that in all of human history no one has even remotely began to explain how it could possibly exist.
And it may be at least somewhat reasonable for Yahoo to interpret that as promoting suicide, and quite reasonable for it to take down the site for that reason.
Reasonable? Not at all. Yahoo is wrong in this case. They are in the business of distributing speech. Therefor they should respect the right to free speech. Something they clearly do not. So fuck yahoo. There are plenty of websites that would have respected the mans last wishes, it's too bad he picked the wrong one.
My local university has been buying up highrises downtown and building huge complexes for their different departments. The Engineering department has moved 3x in the 15 years I've lived here. Each building an architectural wonder. I can understand their desire to show off their engineering prowess but to the tune of 100 million a pop it's getting a bit ridiculous. My niece is going to school for engineering and her tuition is $30k/year. When I went in the 90s it was less than $5k. $30k a year is just unfathomable. There's no way she's getting that kind of value out of that school.
It's only going to get worse as the tea baggers...
So who is +5 insightful a comment that has gay/political slurs in it? It's ok to use slurs when you don't like the group he's making the slur against? I'm not suggesting that he can't post what he wants, but the people modding this up are hypocrites.
Actually there have been studies regarding why aspirin seems to significantly reduce cancer rates. Some doctors are starting to think, similar to what you're saying, that many of the chemicals contained in Aspirin are also found on plant molds and that our current access to fresh vegetables combined very little contact with food molds and chemicals plants produce when damaged may be related to recent increases in cancer rates. Wouldn't it be ironic if the cure for cancer was bruised moldy tomatoes?
I have an exclusive deal with the Pirate bay that trumps all those deals. Netflix, Youtube and Amazon are NOT the future of video. They are just extensions of the same relics the cable companies are. Internet killed the video star.
In 2011, IBM did issue a roadmap that set forth the goal of reaching $7 billion in annual cloud revenue by 2015
Is it possible that since 2011 when the cloud hype was at its peak, IBM like the rest of the world has realized that "the cloud" has some serious drawbacks and companies all over the world are pulling their assets out as fast as they can? Ironically today our entire Sales org was down for 2hrs because of some network hiccup 300 miles away from us cut off access to our "Cloud" based sales app. Per the vendor this was not an outage of course. The service was still up we just couldn't connect to it.
Who says it was scheduled work? Sometimes things happen... certs expire, equipment fails... so you have to do work in the middle of the day. I had to log in remotely via a laptop and 4G hotspot once while I was riding in a canoe on the 4th of July to bring some stuff back up. Bad luck doesn't turn off during business hours and holidays.
What? No... Most sites were either BBS's or something resembling a blog... Fan sites for different TV shows like the Simpsons, webcams pointed at various interesting or uninteresting objects or just picture archives.
That's nice. These are the stats of the "Music" folder on my NAS: Size: 195 GB Contains: 29,774 Files, 2,931 Folders File structure: Artist\Album\song.mp3\ogg\whatever
My wife, who can't even type, has no problem navigating the file structure, finding what she wants and putting it on her phone/mp3 player. If she can't find something cntrl-f is amazingly handy.
I've tried dozens of music management systems and none of them could beat just having things stored neatly and moving the files myself. Of all those I've tried, iTunes was THE WORST.
So are we pretending now that the United States doesn't have it's own State Media propaganda outlets? And no I'm not talking about Fox news or MSNBC. They are basically extensions of their respective political parties but not directly run by the feds.
That's right, The United States of America, beacon of freedom, land of the free, home of the brave, will now have a State media organization dedicated to manipulating the American people into believing their government is Righteous and good.
greater than 1% of our population is in prison. We have a never ending nebulous "War on Terror" We have a secret domestic spy network that captures all of your communications Our government now imprisons people indefinitely without warrant, cause or judicial oversight. Our president now orders the death of foreigners AND American citizens without any oversight what-so-ever as long as he feels they are an imminent threat.
Welcome to the the Police state. Russia's not looking so bad now is it?
...and having to use that hideous iTunes app is an even greater agony.
and there you have it. iTunes is one of the most horrendous applications I've ever used. When I got my wife to switch to android she said "But how do I put music on it?!?!" so I clicked on the device and said "See that folder called music? Put it in there." all she said was "wow"
Hopefully no-one. When I started surfing there weren't any ads... NONE. Pages were made by people that cared about the topics they were writing about. And this isn't going to stop ads... it just going to stop them from tracking you. The add can still be there, you can still click on it if you want their crap.

I'm talking about Voice of America: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_of_America
They broadcast US propaganda all over the world at the behest of the state department.
But wait you say? This is only directed at foreign audiences like the middle east to counteract the state run media there?
Ah, but no... Congress just repealed the decades old "propaganda ban" and directed Voice of America to start broadcasting inside the united states:
