  1. Verhoeven takes out Heinlein and Critics in one on Critics Reassess Starship Troopers As a Misunderstood Masterpiece · · Score: 0

Heinlein was a talentless, hippy, lassez-faire, right-wing, borderline fascist dickhead. His only good book was The Puppet Masters, which they made a reasonably good film of (though they changed some fundamentals), with Donald Sutherland. Paul Verhoeven, with this film, finished saying everything he wanted to say with RoboCop, and took out Heinlein in the process. I really think this film is a masterpiece of satire. So - critics really ARE that dumb, it appears.

  2. Please ditch 4 and use TRINITY!!! on Kubuntu To Be Sponsored By Blue Systems, Rather Than Canonical · · Score: 1

Yeah well can they please ditch the utter DISASTER that is KDE4 and go with TRINITY!! Pleaaaaasse!!!!!!

  3. Re:Hyper-V on Microsoft Counted As Key Linux Contributor · · Score: 0

You got it, and they only support a limited range of kernel options. To paraphrase FatIdiotBoy (Balllessmer) talking about Google v Microsoft (You know Google? The company that will buy them some time this year?) "Its like a 12 yo kid in the ring with a heavyweight" - Yep Steve spot on. You are the 12yo and you know nothing about hardcore comp.sci and thats why now we're in the real world you are finding yourself ceasing to exist.

  4. Sigh. on Microsoft Counted As Key Linux Contributor · · Score: 0

Just hurry up and die MS, there is a reason you share the same initials as Multiple Sclerosis.

  5. Leave the UK. on British Government To Grant Warrantless Trawl of Communications Data · · Score: 0

Leave the UK. Get out of there before you need to be declared a Valid Citizen to travel. Seriously, just run.

  6. Ah Redflex on Astroturfing For Speed Cameras · · Score: 0

I've worked for Redflex as a contractor, they were nice folks and good payers. Its such a pity they work for Satan and their soul purpose is to oppress the rights of the ordinary citizen and that every member of the company from the director down to the staff grandchildren should be put to fire and the sword.

  7. Still not buying it on Journalist Gets Blasted By the Pentagon's Pain Ray — Twice · · Score: 0

Still not buying it, it just can't work except under test conditions.

  8. Re:Why the anxiety? on Ask Slashdot: Life After Firefox 3.6.x? · · Score: 0

I do not understand techie luddites. Why didn't you upgrade? Why the anxiety? It's a fucking WEB BROWSER. Life will go on.

Well thats a refreshing viewpoint. Damn the torpedoes.

Anyway. All of them from 7 upwards have proved to be:

    • Slow
    • Stuttery - they all lockup for no apparent reason regardless of platform
    • Enormous
    • And the menus are still a mess
    • And everybody turns OFF the new features and adds add-ons to take them back to 3.6* behaviour. Bit like bargeDOS 7 really

Apparently life will go on though somebody said.

  12. Time to ship the war on UK Law Enforcement Starts Seizing Music Blogs · · Score: 0

That is one of the most immature and idiotic messages I've ever seen on a website. I think its time we showed them who is really boss in the West.

  13. 101 on Why Microsoft Developers Need a Style Guide · · Score: 0

Nah, MS progs just need a copy of Programming Basics 101, then they might finally make something secure, fast, and that doesnt need 3 gig of ram just to produce a gui. Style guides are for *advanced* programmers, not beginners.

  14. Wrong Hack Vector! on Job Seeking Hacker Gets 30 Months In Prison · · Score: 0

Why didnt he just hire himself? I'm sure there are 100s if not 1000s of people all over the world working jobs they invented themselves by hacking personnel records. The trick is to make sure the office and the accountant are in different cities, preferably different continents, and that the job is so low-key it sits under a bigger hierarchy and therefore any news of audits will filter down with sufficient warning. Ie. DONT make yourself a managing director, not unless its for a purpose that only has to last 24 hours or less!

  15. Yes, Correct. on Jailbreaking the Internet For Freedom's Sake · · Score: 0

Yes, Correct, Getting there. There are already "Black Apps" for mobile devices and "Grey Apps" (depending on who's budget you are treading on). Its all getting far too confusing for the Moron In The Street - so dont expect any thanks - but they get protection for free as the rest of us ramp this War up. Arrg, ranting, but you get the drift. Rowry.

  17. Gods help them on New Spark Tablet To Come Loaded With KDE's Active Plasma Interface · · Score: 0

Plasma is an abortion, and KDE is effectively dead as of 4 (what am I typing on here? 4. I'm most likely going to XFCE sometime soon even though its a GNOMEALIKE without the gbugs). Time for a new GUI I suppose, sigh, but it would be nice if the makers of the existing ones could just FIX THEIR SHIT.

    Good point.

  21. Nothing. on Air Force Says Iran Didn't Down Drone · · Score: 1

They will gain nothing from it. All the executing realtime code is encrypted and it and all the friend/foe and nav components are designed to fry themselves if it detects an unauthorized landing. There is nothing special about the airframe or engines and the weapons payload would have been ditched or self-detonated as well. This isn't the movies.

  22. Australia should have invaded. on Indonesian Man Faces Five Years For Atheist Facebook Post · · Score: 0

Sigh, I WISH Australia had annexed them before it lost all the F-111's. It would have taken a weekend to paralyse their military, a couple more weeks to make them critically dependant on supply lines from Australia, and then less than a year to replace their government with a locally elected secular one (and shoot all the imams and other idiots). Too late now, all they've got now is the Collins subs and those toy FA-18s the yanks forced them to buy in the 80s, and that aint enough.
