I've been seeing some estimates of 5%-30% load increases when patches for Meltdown are applied to various OSs.
So I'm running VirtualBox for VM test-bed stuff. If the host OS (Linux, in this case) has this extra load, I'm guessing the guests will also have their own extra load added in. Is it correct to think that the host CPU might well have >50% load thanks to this?
We're almost at the single screen-remote you speak of on our AppleTV; major networks news apps, YouTube, Netflix, Tablo (see below), etc. I can't get my girlfriend to get rid of cable TV yet, though we're down to the basic $25 cheap package. All the stuff she watches we can see on HD OTA or I can auto-download via Sonarr, but she can't seem to completely untether herself.
We have an antenna on the roof (with 5 local HD channels). Recently picked up one of those Tablo devices that are gaining in popularity. It now records any shows she wants from OTA and can play live or recorded TV to the AppleTV via a decent app with a guide and everything.
I only have ~15 TB of stuff on a NAS4Free box. We should trade...:)
If you have (ahem) backed up your own legally owned DVD and Blurays, check out the app Infuse on both iOS and tvOS. It plays everything we throw at it that is stored on our server. Costs around $15-20 but it the best money you'll spend for that functionality.
Of course, but the parent was asking if the MAC was visible. Spoofed or not, you can see it. Most cretins that would do that sort of nonsense on a plane aren't smart enough to think of that.
Ditto for me. The only thing I'm missing is iBlacklist which allowed for wildcard blocking of whole ranges of phone numbers. There are currently several that kinda-sorta do this, but they take forever to reload the service and have hard limits to the number of numbers they can block. They actually count a block of, say, 800-555-* as 10,000 numbers. It's an iOS-induced limitation.
I'm sure it will do well in DVD/Bluray sales. To be honest, a selfish part of me is hoping it makes enough to show a profit, but not enough where the studios will opt for more sequels. Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 are a great duos, a third one is not necessary.
Some movies just have to be seen on the big screen. I saw Blade Runner 2049 twice on IMAX and was blown away (granted I'm a huge BR fan and oozing with bias). Our home theatre setup is no slouch, but even when I get BR2049 in 4K, it won't be the same experience.
I showed my 11 year old daughter your sig. She smiled and said "That's awesome! I'm going to get my engineers to make a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

If you don't like Apple Maps, install Google Maps, Waze, etc. Personally I use Apple Maps as I've yet to have any problems with it.

Thanks! That's good info.

You don't need to authenticate to see the MAC address. Run Kismet and you'll get MACs of all the open and closed access points in your area.

You would be more accurate if you used a float rather than a decimal.

The 1.1 trillion dollar purchase must have escaped the headlines.
I was always a proponent of Daylight Saving Time. Moving all the clocks ahead or back an hour was always a lot of fun.
This, though, ruins it for me. I think we should ban DST altogether.

noun the ability to do something that frightens one: she called on all her courage to face the ordeal.
Invented by Apple Inc. in 2016.

Think Aliens, Godfather 2, Terminator 2.
Blade Runner seems to be available all over here. In fact they recently released a 4K UHD BD.

Google's smartest people aren't concerned with search results, they're priority is figuring out how to shovel relevant ads at you.
Hard to believe this was back in 2004, but it worked!
82? Your UID should be in the single digits!
She played it, that's where the quote is from. Or am I whooshed?
Ah, got it. A search with "Pale Moon" included is returning much. I neglected it the first time.
Thanks, AC!
