This is the SECOND time this year that cablevision subscribers have lost channels because Cablevision does not want to pay up. Last time, it was Home and Garden and the Food Network. Both times, Cablevision has claimed that they are doing this to put their customers first.
I think they meant putting their customers first on the chopping block.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cablevision#Carriage_disputes as well.
Anyone who uses any computer (including Mac AND Linux) without anti-virus is asking for what they get.
Especially with the number of good free anti-virus programs available for Windows, there is no excuse not to have one either way. I use Avast Home Edition. It's free (just registration required), fast, and small-footprint.
Even if 9/10 viruses would be blocked by UAC, an anti-virus program that blocks the last one is worth it.
The site that my email address is at is currently a placeholder until I have time to work on my own site.
The site where I pulled those statistics is a real business site for a Summer Camp. The reason I did not (and will not) post a link to that site is because it is on a weak server and I'd rather not get slashdotted.
I doubt most people have owned a computer for more than a few months before visiting your site, and if they have they wouldn't understand the problems with vista.
Where do you get that piece of information from?
Personally, I have been working in Web and Software Development and in Systems Administration for fifteen years and I have no problems with Vista.
What are you talking about?? Plenty of people are using Vista.
My Website's stats show (For the month of May until today):
Windows XP 57.5 %
Windows Vista 22.5 %
I also found that in my "Real World" usage, 7 is MUCH faster than Vista.
For those (not the/. crowd) who do email, browsing, music, movies, and simple games, 7 will definitely be better than Vista.
It is NOT true that 7 has just as bad hardware requirements. I am running the beta in a Virtual Machine on a Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with only 512 Mb RAM allocated to the VM and it runs just fine!
An old good friend of mine who died in his 90's last year and over the course of his life worked on every computer he could get his hands on (I have seen a small fraction that he still has) told me that a successful programming language is one that you can learn, not use for 20 years, and then come back to and still remember how to use it. If it passes this test, it is as easy to use as a spoken language, and that makes it successful.
Wait, wasn't this the whole reason Apple wanted to approve apps - so they could keep the garbage out?!
China's next move will be to block access to google.com.hk for all Internet users in China ... so how does this help?
Here is what it looks like now: http://gallery.ymkatz.net/mozilla%20jetpack.png

Yeah? Can you point to ONE virus in the wild that has ever bitten any Mac or Linux user?
Yes, I know it's from 2006. But it answers your question: http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/3601946

Well, now that these scammers are "Phried Phish", it should be the FDA.
It appears that http://www.michaelgeist.ca/ (the first three links in the article) has been slashdotted.
Verizon will let you use ANY device on their network that conforms to the CDMA specifications. See http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/27/verizon-wireless-opens-network-to-any-apps-any-device-in-2008/ This most likely includes the Pre, even without any modifications.

No one's using Vista anyway.

Palm released a blog post today saying that they are sorry they overreacted and are now working with preDevCamp. See it at http://pdnblog.palm.com/2009/05/a-predevcamp-update/
