I agree with the article except for the part where it is mentioned that it would be 4000 times easier to do these crimes. It is more like 4000 times more opportunity to do these crimes.
I feel sorry for the family that has been raided. Good thing no one got injured.
The person responsible for the bogus raid should be sued or something by the family, but then again, it could be the police's / system developer's fault for not having a secure system that could even be hacked by a 19 year old.
Same here. It would be nice if they keep it the way it was before. You feel like the game that you've bought is completely yours without the limitation. What's with all those DRM issues anyway?
I was a fan of EA especially the sim games. Because of the same reason mentioned by fermion, there are better choices out there for me that keep everything simple. And recently EA also acquired BioWare and Pandemic Studios which can makes things even more interesting.
From my point of view, the increase in security budgets is due to the increase in number of ways a system can be attacked. There's no doubt that security is very important for businesses. It's better to spend more on security rather than being attacked and hacked or anything like that, which can lead to more losses.
Attacks coming from the internet are increasing more and more these days, especially related to videos from the internet. One of the method used by an attacker is forcing you download a video player containing a virus or trojan. This is done by encrypting a certain video file and uploading it to the internet so anybody can download it. When you download it and try to play it on your normal video player, it will ask you to download a specific video player to watch the video. The most common one is 3wplayer.
There is a way to decode the file using ActivePerl but most likely you will end up getting the video that you did not intend to download.
yeah, that's true. To add abit.. the programmers need to do good coding without any of those unexpected functionality/additional functionality, buffer overflow and etc in order for the program to be secure.
Actually, antivirus developers are making money due to bad coding by programmers.

If you disable ActiveX in Internet Explorer, you will not be affected right?

A company says "We offer the best in security to ensure the protection of your business without any problems".
Few weeks later..
The company says "We have discovered an issue with bla bla bla, please visit bla bla bla to get the update".

Why was the important tape being kept in an intern's car in the first place?

Will this affect the documents you open with Adobe Reader as well?
I use Adobe Reader all the time to read pdf files and I was just wondering whether the documents can be modified by the attacker or not.
If an operating system would have a built-in antivirus program which is on by default, then the percentage of protected users would surely increase.
Microsoft was attempting to do this but too bad, it was not approved.

This is just a warning for those who don't know.
