If a $2.1 million bond is required in case they need to remove the structure. The article says nothing about how much it will cost and if this investment will pay off in the long run. I doubt it especially since the turbine only has an expected life of 20 years.
The article doesn't say whether the drugs were just in the vehicle or actually on his person.
Since 1925 there has been a motor vehicle exception to the fourth amendment.
There's potential for abuse here. My friend was helping his ex-wife move back to Texas, they both drove separate cars. Once they got there her druggee friend helped unload his trunk. On his way back, he was stopped and searched at one of these inland checkpoints because a drug dog smelled something. Luckily they didn't find anything big enough to incriminate him with. Imagine if she really wanted to get him in trouble. Instead of causing him an inconvenience she could have put him in jail for a while.
In a lot of states traffic offenses are still misdemeanors which can carry jail time for not paying, i.e. you could be arrested at your next traffic stop and forced to pay up. If you demand a jury trial they will often lower it to a civil infraction and then tell you that they don't do jury trials for infractions. You can't be deprived of liberty for an infraction although they may still be able to suspend your license if you don't pay, a decision which you can also appeal. If you go pro se and study up you can drag the case out for a long time. Challenge jurisdiction, file a bunch of motions etc. You can hope the officer won't show up at trial and possibly get the case dismissed. If you really aren't guilty, do whatever you can to get a fair trial or get the case dismissed. In most places they can't charge you court costs for your defense if you claim you are indigent i.e. not a millionaire that can afford to hire a team of lawyers to defend a traffic case. If the judge finds you guilty at a bench trial appeal the decision within 10 days. Then you can appeal all the way to your state's Supreme Court. Somewhere along the way they'll figure it's not worth their time for a $100 traffic ticket. IANAL YMMV
Where I live we were fortunate enough to get UTOPIA up and running. It has forced the major cable internet providers to lower rates since they can't compete with the speed of fiber.
What the internet needs is an AI moderating system. A neural network that the user can tweak and add to their browser that will automatically filter comment sections and forums for them. If the user is looking for flamewars, insight, entertainment they can find it. Having a preapproved group of people that can comment on something like Denton suggests is just censorship. The user should be able to set up their own web of trust where they can rank certain users higher. All you'd need is a separate plugin for each site you visit and then people can modify and share their moderator AI's all they want.

I don't trust how the system is set up right now. Last time I went to renew my license I didn't check the organ donor box, the DMV checked it for me anyway. I keep having to go online and cancel my registration, which is rather annoying. My issue is that these registries are run by private corporations with a financial incentive to be able to harvest people's organs and there aren't enough regulations in place. I would be willing to donate if it didn't involve money and I knew my rights would be protected.

We know it's gone. But we don't know what they spent it on," said Jim Minnery, Defense Finance and Accounting Service. That was only in 2002.
That was just in one year. If they could somehow misappropriate $2.3 trillion in one year it's certainly plausible to do the same with $5 trillion over ten years.

It's common sense for the police to treat the man as if he's lying.
It's also common sense for everyone to assume the police are lying. Just read a few police reports. Almost everyone that gets arrested is also charged with resisting arrest or interfering with an arresting officer or whatever else they can come up with. Look at an officer the wrong way, that's assault. You can't trust the police as eveyone is just a suspect in their eyes. Call the police if you need to but also protect your rights by filming all your interactions with them.
I have a problem with the police breaking into people's homes and shooting them because they are suspected of having drugs. In my state for example they send in the SWAT team and do just that. Todd Blair was shot from fifteen feet away when all he had was a golf club. Watch the video, the officer says get on the guh (Pow Pow Pow). Didn't give him a chance to react. They didn't find any drugs on him either. Since there's not enough crime here they need to go after innocent people to keep the funds flowing in.

There is no mass transportation in America because people don't and wouldn't use it. I live in suburbia two miles from work. My wife takes our car to work. There's no reason for us to have two cars. I ride my bike to work and get along fine even when it's snowing. There aren't any bike lanes on my way, I take side roads or use the side walks since they are so underused because hardly anyone walks anywhere here. I live in a very car centric place but I still get along fine without one (I wouldn't have a car if I wasn't married). I can get anywhere I need to that's within two miles by bike and it doesn't take more than half an hour. Sometimes biking is faster than driving especially when there's congestion. I like the exercise and the liberating feeling of not having to pay money to go places. I don't bike because I pretend that it will make a difference but because I'm cheap and don't like wasting energy. Most of our energy woes could be solved simply by using less, driving less, consolidating trips and living closer to work. I keep the thermostat off at night and when no one is home and leave it at around 65 degrees fahrenheit (18 degrees celsius) during the winter. That's not cold or uncomfortable. The price of food wouldn't be tied so closely to the price of gas if we stopped shipping all our produce from so far away and consumed locally grown food that was in season. Back in 2008 when average prices peaked to around $4.12/gallon people started changing their driving habits or spent less on eating out etc. $5/gallon isn't the end of the world it will just make people reevaluate their energy usage priorities.
In J.E.M. Ag Supply v. Pioneer Hi-Bred International the Supreme Court ruled for companies licensing patented seeds where the majority opinion was written by Clarence Thomas a former Monsanto lawyer. So thanks to a very business friendly Supreme Court agroindustry can get away with putting farmers and seed cleaners out of business.
1. Create an invasive noxious weed species
2. Patent the weed and method for its removal
3. Spread the weed everywhere
4. Sue anyone who owns the property it grows on
5. Profit!

The same kind of stuff probably goes on all the time in caucus meetings, primaries and elections. We only ever hear about the most egregious cases.

China manipulating their currency is really just protectionism on their part. I'm sure they say we also manipulate our currency unfairly.
I don't know about that there are a lot of people who'd like lower tariffs on foreign cars for example.
It would be nice to have a functioning democracy. I just wish we could have a referendum on protectionism here in the U.S.

Anonymous whistle blowing with penalties for coercing voters. Not many people would let something like that happen without saying anything.

It's the new systemic pesticides that become a part of the plant and get into the pollen. The bee colony will usually start to collapse within a year of being exposed to these types of pesticide infested crops. Systemics are now banned in many European countries. There's also a documentary called "The Vanishing of the Bees" that explains the situation. What's bad for bees is also bad for people which is why it's better to buy organic produce when possible. The EPA won't step in with regulation until all the bees in North America are gone.
