Ours filters profanities out of subject headers. I don't really approve, but I can see why. Emails sometimes leave the company and they have the company's name in the domain.
Reminds me of when a friend was involved with a video shoot for the Butthole Surfers a long time ago. He got a call from a company who had completed an order for something related to the shoot, and the woman on the phone would not say which order it was as she did not want to utter the bands name. Just kept saying the surfers.
Adobe CAN write good stuff, they just aren't being forced to. If you compare Lightroom and Aperture, they're pretty comparable. In fact, personally I'd even give Lightroom the edge, which I don't want to as I can get Aperture substantially cheaper.
So Apple writing some competing software would likely give us a drastically improved UI on CD as well, right quick.
He isn't in the picture at all. NASA's expensive space suit is.
I, however, am completely visible in the picture on the planet below in an unobscured fashion, and shall likewise be filing suit. As soon as I figure out which subpixel is me.
Everyone who has posted this is like asking to be compensated by insurance by offering to pay a premium after you have a car accident or other similar incorrect analogy:
The firefighters had already COME TO HIS HOUSE. They were THERE. He offered them payment for ALL THEIR EXPENSES.
If you want to make a retarded car analogy, this is like refusing a parking brake repair from your mechanic, and then when he sees you get out of your car on a hill near his shop, him running over to where you are, and then refusing to help you stop your car as it starts to roll down the hill where it will smash into a wall, even when you offer him the money for the original repair and more.
Even absent all that, I can't believe the number of assholes who think he deserved it when they were already sitting right there. The same crowd who thinks the RIAA is out of line asking for $250,000 for a $.99 song. What happened to punishment (and that is sure as hell what this was) fitting the misdeed?
The hard line I would take on this is they put out the fire, then bill him for the full cost of the emergency call. He fails to pay, put a lien on his house and foreclose for the amount plus costs. I bet he'd trade that situation for the one he's in now.
Thanks for the tip. My wife has been pissed about our "top of the line" Kenmore (nee Whirlpool) for years, and when it next fails, wants to replace it with something actually made well.
I don't fully disagree with you, there was cheap crap 40 years ago as well. But every decent quality item I bought prior to 1980 has lasted decades. This is less true of the higher quality items I have bought since then. It's more a 50/50 proposition now.
Sears' appliances have always been rebranded units from the major mfrs, i.e. whirlpool, GE, etc., so their quality decline is due to the other brands.
Their customer service went into a severe nosedive about 2-3 years ago. We had bought ~$10K in appliances from them during 1995-2005, and they always bent over backwards to give us good servic up until then.
Then one day, after the third repeat of an issue with a Kenmore rebranded whirlpool high end washer, they stopped being helpful and actually became obstructive to getting it serviced. My wife pressed the agent on the phone, who finally admitted the company had reprioritized their whole service department to reduce costs and they were instructed to literally make it as diificult as possible to get warranty service. My wife asked if it mattered that we would now take our obviously lucrative (to them) appliance business somewhere else, and was told yes, it was short sighted, but couldn't be helped.
Why doesn't Adobe tell Jobs to stick it and simply refuse to sell or support adobe products on Apple OSes anymore? There are a hell of a lot more Windows users than OSX users, and losing Photoshop and Dreamweaver would hurt Apple a hell of a lot more than it would hurt Adobe.
Not sure about that. I think a more significant chunk of Adobe's revenue comes from OS X users than if Apple were to see lower sales of MBPs and Mac Pros. Apple's making most of their cash off their consumer devices now.
Probably he's referring to the Samsung Galaxy S tablet, which has a rumored list price of $700 or more, but will be subsidized o $200-300 with a data plan commitment, making it "cheaper" than an ipad.
Where that would only be cheaper if you were already paying for a data plan of some sort, and dropped that in favor of the one for the Galaxy. If you are adding the plan to your phone plan, or getting your first data plan, not really cheaper.
Streaming just isn't going to be "good enough" for people that care about quality
Agreed, but unfortunately we are a minority. Witness the fate of SACD, DVD-A and even CD in the face of MP3 and other lossy formats. Or the general acceptance of horribly low bit rate HD from pretty much every television programming source except OTA.
Apple's glass is elevensile.

Have you considered that the glass platen on the copier may not be load rated?
It's getting better. It's still an abomination, but it wears a bag over its head of very sheer material that you can only mostly see through.
on CS that is.

There fixed that . . . sorry got carried away.

Oddly, these are the same dogs who cheerfully eat crap out of a catbox with no ill effects.

You've made a MacBook Air. Not sure if that answers your question.
