Looking back at history, we see that as clock speeds and memory capacity increased, software writing became simplified by the use of higher level languages whos output, while not as optimal as machine code programming, ran at a similar speed to previous generation hardware using well optmised machine code. And so, the "problem" of writing for faster machines was solved.
For the multicore problem, I propose a similar strategy. Simply write a natural language programming interface which uses n-x cores to interpret and compile the code into a mish mash of bloated machine code, which then runs on the remaining x number of cores. Of course, several remaining cores would be needed to run this bloated mess at speeds comparable to 486's - but at least the new hardware could be widely sold, thus supporting industry!
Its not like the users really need faster software, they just need a reason to upgrade to better hardware, right?? right??
I'm surprised the US defense establishment need robot flies - why not just politely ask the regular biological flies if they would like to help out with the war against humans?? After all there seems to be a massive surplus of bullshit in the US, which, at the moment, is simply shoveled down the throats of a somnambulistic US population.
Perhaps the flies have some sort of ethical code, I dunno.
US Elections are so bad, so corrupted, that UN observers wont certify them because they fail to reach minimum standards. And you have seen the programmers testimony havent you? youtube-LHS associates.
I see no choice for you all, you are going to have to, um, rationalise away all that corruption and ignore the facts, just so you can sleep tonight and wake up believing the lie that you are someone who cares about authenticity.
This is a common theme isnt it?
A problem is either new/unheard of; in which the messenger is a "conspiracy nut"
or it is old/heard of; in which case its "nothing to see here, our outrage is spent, move on, whiners!"
Trouble is there isnt an intermediate phase! you know, where people actually do something!
See the ongoing primaries-electoral-fraud reactions. Its either; you're a kook, or "so what, it's always been like this" (and any remaining complaints are put down with "run for congress then")
I could cry, if only I hadnt done what everyone else has, and shut down my concern for truth, justice, beauty, honour, integrity, hope and positive change.... this is progress to some out there I guess.
...which found that while 95% of clean shaven men find shaving a terrible bore, only 3% would consider taking a pill that would stop beard growth forever.. (or somesuch)
Personally I can think of nothing worse than getting no buzz from the occasional free coke that I get offered. (as if id buy it myself, at typical street prices!!)
Thank god for copying. really. Where would we be if the digging-stick and the wheel and the tran-fricken-sistor weren't copied. huh? huh?
On a slightly different point: Human nature to copy, human nature to get advantage with maximum economy, human nature to try to fool your fellows into giving you money for ephemeral nonsense (apparently).
Two out of three for me, and Im winning at the moment, so more power to me I say.
Do I feel guilty about everything Ive downloaded? I'm not sure, but definitely not as guilty as if I had paid retail for them. Good Grief, people with real jobs deserve that money!
(Note: I just bought Reverend and the Makers album, and the Bladerunner: Final Cut Collectors edition tin thing - Im giving that to my Brother (yes, I made a copy)
I guess what Im trying to say is, I dont really care too too much.
New research has shown that Cannabis, long considered a drug "gateway" to debilitating addiction, is in fact highly toxic and deadly to certain cells, scientists confirm.
"Taking just one of the many chemicals from cannabis we conclusively demonstrated that it is an extremely efficient and effective killer..." said a scientist in what was a longer more informative statement. The scientist later continued "..cannabis...scourge of health in the modern world which civilised peoples hope one day to eliminate. Cannabis...targets the.... healthy cells are...destroyed....causing....tumors...allowing healthy...cancer....to grow undamaged... leaving only...cancer...smoking cannabis is....wont get you high"
More on the Cannabis-Cancer Scare later, onto other news, a new type of jam filled butter biscuit - which can be dosed up with medicines - is revolutionising the childrens medicine market sector. A spokeman said "children dont like taking meds, but they do like sugary snacks and butter based biscuits, so our idea was to fuse medical over-prescribing and tasty treats......
The idea is to "discover" the shortcomings you mention after this "its only in the clothing" implementaion, and then to "improve" the system.
Yes folks, RFIDs implated in your FACE!
Maybe someone would like to implement my wonderful idea:
1. set up website where people can voluntarily pay a small fee for particular music, from their extensive edonkeyed collection, that they actually play and enjoy
2. as the site operator you tally the payments for particular artists, and then you buy the artist in question food and other daily essentials (theyll only spend cash on drugs/hookers/cars and overpriced clothing anyway...
3. ???
4. profit
I mean, any sandwiches/burgers/frozen food received would be value not otherwise capitalised, right?
Surely if censorship of the internet is to "Protect Children" then why not simply ban children from using the internet?
This proposal would be like seeing children in a pub, then making everyone drink water, so the kids dont get drunk.
what i never understood is, why try to keep children "innocent" only to viscously corrupt them with the hideous reality of their pathetic lives at 18?
"..all will have a serious need for book-length "blanks" to stock their shelves with" stocking? shelves? blank books? are you completely mad?
talk about missing the win. If you are going to have lots of pages, why not make them REALLY cheap and um, disposable? as you read your new ebook simply tear out pages as you read them, also this means you dont have to carry such a heavy load home. and as long as you dont tear out the last page you can load that with new content later - by scanning in a book you bought (cut the spine out!). yeah.

"of course, im, er, retired now"
"you are, a retard?"
Ive been playing the game and I don't notice the ads either, I find them to be mere scenery - just like the products and product packaging I am surrounded with right now. oh wait..
Belief in "God" as an "invisible man" (plus any beards/robes/swords etc) is a religious concept which adorns the core element, which I could call "God". The strict rules, again, are religion at work, not "God"
Because of those connotations which allow you to construct your straw man arguement, I wouldnt use the word "God".
I prefer to call it "The Creative Principle".
I know The Creative Princlple exists because I have conveniently chosen a name which is also a description of observations of the world around me.
Believing in God is therefore simply a semantic trick, the real question is: What beliefs are useful to me?
The next part is even better - I am God. Im either God, a fragment of God, or I am defying and offending God - all three are awesome cool ways to live.
your alternative; being godless mechanised "meat" on an insignificant spinning rock, is just, um, weak. How can you feel good like that? maybe you have some semantic tricks of your own?
unless... we are the only/most advanced sentient meat, and therefore defacto "Gods"....
I for one think that only good things can come from having police completely invulnerable to physical attack. This should make them both more temperate and accountable.
But wait, the tax burden of buying expensive armour for police might cause an armed revolt, however, the police will be able to easily and safely put down the revolt using their new armour as protection; therefore we must buy this armour immediately - whatever the cost! stability and peace requires it!
can i have a job in government now?
