I've got the 30 day contacts, and they're awesome, I put them in at the beginning of the month, and take them out at the end of the month. For me it's just like having normal correct vision.
I even go swimming with them in, I'd say consider them over the laser surgery, the worst case if you don't like them is you just pop them out./ZL
I'm a typical slashdot type, hell, programming pays my bills, but i held out on buying an iPod UNTIL the mini came out.
Why? Because I walk everywhere I go, and the mini is small enough that it fits (when clipped into my jean pocket) above my pager and cell phone. Plus, it's just damn cool. And 4 days of music is more than i need on me at any one time.
I think he means 'astigmatism', from dictionary.com:
A visual defect in which the unequal curvature of one or more refractive surfaces of the eye, usually the cornea, prevents light rays from focusing clearly at one point on the retina, resulting in blurred vision.
I've got a pair of Timberland SMART loafers, it's the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned (and they look good), around $90 at your favorite dept. store.
What you are looking for is more along the lines of an asynchronous publish subscribe style architecture such as JMS, MQSeries, or Tibco.
SOAP is designed for easy synchronous communication, and while you can fake synchronous over asynchronous, it can be more challenging to go the other way.
Just make it really really big, with treads, and a huge freaking mulcher on the front. Then, just let it travel in a straight line from LA to Vegas. Crushing everything in its path!
You've got it all wrong. The deciding issue wasn't the legality or morality of using a system such as this one. It was based on cost and effectiveness.
What do you mean by techie? As a software developer I've never had a written test or hands on test, but I have had plenty of strong technical interview questions given orally where I'm expected to write code on a whiteboard, or notepad to prove I know what I'm talking about.
That said, I imagine a PC technician would probably have a hands on test to make sure they can demonstrate what they claim they can do.
If you feel you need a written exam to prove a candidates abilities then go for it. But if you think you can recognize talent without it then why not just skip the test and the stress/frustration that comes with it?
Maybe I don't understand the issue, BitKeeper is a private company, they make a product that they don't want their competitors to use for free. What's the harm in that? Ford doesn't donate cars to Chevy neither does McDonalds give Burger King free food, why is this different?
I mean, I know that Apple's entered the server market, but do they really have the kind of hardware people run DB2 on? I don't normally consider an Apple as a high end server, and if you're going to do low end database work then what do you need DB2 for?
Oh my god! This is what i've been looking for forever!! Finally, streaming radio that takes advantage of being net based. Creating your own station is just awesome.
Because it is Arduino compatible. Arduinos are all Atmel chips. ARM is way more complicated than people need for these sorts of projects.
Victorinox is the true swiss army product line, wenger is just a cheaper knockoff.
pgAdmin doesn't work with Oracle, so no, you can't switch to pgAdmin.
i hate it when people play don't come bets. It's a sign of bad faith, and you are effectively betting against the table.
Part of the fun of craps is that everyone is on the same team

Don't worry about citizenship, it's not a requirement to be a soldier, just an officer. Any permanent US resident can become a soldier.

this is impressive, do you have to threaten to quit or anything? My bill is about to go up (as I go off of the promotion).

Could this be an example of the government doing something right? And maybe, just maybe protecting the rights of its citizens?

Learning how to shower w/ contacts on was a bit interesting but other than that, they've been great.

Remedy seems to be a standard in this arena. It has a good web client and an ok windows client...
They are a business, if they want to make money in China, then they need to play by China's rules.
At the school I went to, someone tried to send a death threat to the president, from what they thought was an anonymous connection.
