vi/etc/rc.config
change the first line to ENABLE_SUSECONFIG=no
now you can be sure YaST wont over-write any changes you make...
this took about one half second to figure out, maybe if you had spent as much time fixing SuSE boxes and you say you have, you would already know this. . .
If this code is somehow included into the open source samba software, can microsoft sue samba for disclosing thier trade secret by publishing this 'open source'?
Do you honestly think IBM doesn't have redudant power supplies in their AS/400s? The circuit where the power comes into the system (the power supplies all merge at this circuit) broke.
we had an as/400 at the last place I worked. It was so redundant you could change any of the cards without even turning it off. One day however, the main power line (the one all the redundant power supplies feeds into) broke and it turned itself off. IBM of course was on the case within an hour, but something like this happening with the senerio of 41000 servers would be catastrophic, and yes there are single points of failure in everything. I am still very impressed with this technology and I hope to someday be installing new servers on mainframes =o) kudo's IBM
The fact that Crusoe has better technology may not be able to hold up when Intel fires up the marketing machine that Transmeta may not be able to afford. . .
How many "better technologies" have we seen dissapear because of lack of marketing money? It will be interesting to see what happens.
I know where I work all the MS lovin linux bashers were in awe when they saw the RH graphical install for the first time. It does serve its purpose, and you can always use text mode install if you don't like it
The English plural for what is 'viruses.' Language is something that develops out of usage. It isn't 'owned' by stuffed shirts in an academy somewhere. The plural of "self-replicating infectious computer code" can be whatever society calls it. Stop shoving your dictionary at us, please.
Do you post this everytime a "its cracker not hacker" war breaks out?
The term RAID seems to fit in the case of NT where you choose 'Microsoft striping' or 'striping with parity'. Is this not redundant? Is this not an array? I have and always will think that software arrays suck but I haven't heard your argument before. While the RAID advisory board (whoever that is) may not recognize it, does not mean it doesn't fit the definition.
RAID is always the best choice in any server environment. RAID improves server speed in most cases and good RAID controllers can do it exponentially. The only question when building new servers IMO is *which* RAID level to run. The only exclusion to this rule is log servers and print servers. If you are building a web server you should use RAID 5 for sure
I am happy to hear Compaq getting press over Linux. I am looking forward to Compaq 3200 array controllers one day being supported in the kernel since they rule. I believe Compaq is one of the most innovative companies out there... they have invented many things like 'hot plug PCI' which I believe they added to the PCI 2.1 spec. Compaq is a good company and they make great servers.
yes it is dated in comparison to other dists... I know its because debian tests the hell out of thier stuff before they deem it stable but its hard to install slink with windowmaker 2xx after you see windowmaker 5xx on the latest release of say redhat.
I really like to use this as a parallel to open source and why it works.
Beta kept there product closed and proprietary while VHS sold their product for nothing and released all the specs to anyone who wanted them saying clone us and sell your product please! The small video stores had their shelves loaded with VHS VCR's while having just one, if any beta VCR's. Beta truly was superior to VHS so I want to end the parallel to open source right there...
a lot of times crackers will use universities to spoof their IP through since universities have tons of user accounts and typically easy passwords to guess.. this could be anyone in the world who thought it was funny to use a Russian network to crack US computers...
with SprintPCS customers do pay to receive text messages.
if you take your phone into a SprintPCS Store, they can update the ROM to take advantage of new frequecies. That should improve your service.
IRREGARDLESS
I gave up whole bunch of time to point this out to you

I thought that was funny until I read the subject. It's a small person who slams a person's mother, even smaller though, who does anonymously..

uhhh a gun pointed at you? welcome to earth. . . this was *just* a sick day not a capital crime.

simply because NT can't handle the load of 25 users
??? thats amazing.. I do not advocate NT but if you are having problems like that then it sounds to me its operator error more than OS error.

uhh... you can type 'text' and the boot screen to get the text installer in redhat...

most major computer makers do not use CPU fans.. they use large heat sinks and design the case to blow some air from another fan onto the heat sink.
its all a hoax read the bid history be sure to read the comments on bottom...

I hate the way things just get attached to bills... I personally think the 'line item veto' should be enforced on every bill... o'well...
Well your wrong about your beta vs. VHS argument.
