Remember though - he hates Apples, so he'll probably be willing to spring for thet $3,700 dollar tough book, because Windows.

Now consider a whole school DISTRICT full of them, with devices they dont own, and probably dont particularly like (because, school...)

Thank you for this. I sit on a Board of Education for a 5,000+ student district and talk to many other districts. NOBODY is repairing their own tablets. most can't even be bothered to reload toner.
There's a service contract for everything and there isn't enough money in the budget to hire someone to work on this. Most districts I know struggle to keep their networks up and have technicians running at breakneck speed just to fix wireless connections and printer drivers. Repairability may be something a single home user with a tech background cares about, but it's not something that large institutions do.

If you are working at a restaurant or loading a truck, sure you can be effective whenever. If you think for a living, you are wasting your time and your employer's time if you don't quickly figure out what daily schedule (or lack of schedule) works best for stimulating your mind. I work about six hours a day (after you take out lunch) because my scedule is flexible. If I had to come in at 9, I'd probably end up working 8 hours and get less done. Who is benefiting by me coming in at 9 besides jealous snowflakes?

Unlees you believe in the opposite of Occams razor, Cambridge Analytica has been caught red handed in bragging about their tactics wiht a plant hwo was posing as a potential customer. So now the evidence is pretty clear that Ukrainian hookers are a part of the package, and that's pretty sleazy, along with their other tactics.
So here in the US, Betty Q Public and her neighbor Joe Wedgie might have not cared if their data was used to let Proctor and Gamble know what type of soap, Oil companies what kind of oil, and even sex toys, start to feel really uncomfortable.
