  1. Streamliner on Sony Announces 'Superslim' PS3 · · Score: 1

I'm no fan of the PS3, but that's a very nice piece of design.

  2. Nostalgia, yo. on Ask Slashdot: Best Science-Fiction/Fantasy For Kids? · · Score: 1

When I was eight, I used to watch next-gen with my Dad. I was hooked as soon as he told me what phasers and photons were.

  3. Design evolves - Most of what's considered good design at any one time looks horribly dated a decade later. Look at the old Apple machines, the G5s and G3s look terrible, it's only because there are newer, more modern products still made by Cupertino to keep their reputation. As soon as that stops, they fade, and Jobs with them.

  4. Splits on What Restrictions Should Student Laptops Have? · · Score: 1

Don't suppose there'd be any way of forcing the machines into logging into seperate accounts, (blocked an de-restricted) depending on weather or not they're in range of the school's wireless network would there? I guess there'd have to be some kind of an external blocker too though for outside school, can't have the little darlings pirating Spore in a seperate window behind their English essays...

  5. Ad-seeking atom bombs go KA-FROOM. on TiVo PC Could Be a Game-Changer · · Score: 1

Happily using adblock PLUS edition ('cos that makes it better somehow) for a few months now to save bandwidth and nerves alike, So I don't get the damned things anyway... Wish we had TiVo in the UK properly, I'd really like to blitz adverts out of my daily life entirely.

  6. Byjeerrowng on Jedi Knights Course Offered By Queen's University Belfast · · Score: 1

Now all they need to do's hurry the fuck up and invent lightsabers and they can charge what they like!

  7. Vistat on Microsoft Concedes Vista Launch Problems · · Score: 1

Ah, sod it, I'll stick with XP and Ubuntu until 7 comes out with a service pack or two. I got XP feelin' all good right now anyway.

  8. Duh. on ISS Dodges Space Junk For First Time In Five Years · · Score: 1

And this is why ALL space-stations need at least one death ray.

  9. Futile! on IE8 Breaking Microsoft's Web Standards Promise? · · Score: 1

Does it really matter? I'll bet my graphics card 99% of everyone on here use firefox anyway!

  10. Brzzz on Ray Gun Puts Voices Inside Your Head · · Score: 1

Wonder if it'd be possible to nullify it with some nuclear-powered sound dampening headphones...

  11. Microsoft, here I come... on Fresh Air For Windows? · · Score: 1

All they've gotta do is realease a DX10 compatible XP, but completely the same as SP3 otherwise, rebrand it as XP-SE and make a big wad of cash for relatively little expense whilst pleasing your entire user-base.

  12. Telecom on Encrypted Traffic No Longer Safe From Throttling · · Score: 1

BT throttled out internet last week because we exceeded their irritating "fair usage policy", meaning we used bittorrenting, but my dad rang them up, threw a false fit about needing the bandwidth for vidio-conferencing, and now we're back on full-speed, unlimited usage! I'd highly recommend lying.

  13. SUMO! on Best Chair For Desktop Coding? · · Score: 1

How about that neat new beanbag-thing sumo just let out? It's about the size of a football-pitch.

  14. Shall we play a game? on WarGames and the Great Hacking Scare of 1983 · · Score: 1

Hasn't got much to do with the story, but a couple of days ago I actually picked up a copy of WarGames: The Epic PC Game from Oxfam. It's full 3-D and asks me "Shall we play a game?" in a voice resembling a rubbish keyboard every time I start it. Best game ever.

  15. Robots are our friends on Raytheon Exoskeleton Brings "Iron Man" to Life · · Score: 1

True enough I guess, but what if they develpoed them for personal use? Imaging WWE meets Battlebots and you'll see where I'm going with this, it'd be the best sport ever made!

  16. Boggley on Report Suggests That Nanny State Might Actually Not Be For the Best · · Score: 1

Good ol' Gordon, he may be a bit creepy, but he knows what he's on about.

  17. Blerg on Microsoft Internal Emails Show Dismay With Vista · · Score: 1

Me and my brother both had pretty much the same spec PCs a few months ago, both just about enough to run supreme commander reasonably well. He has since upgraded to vista, making his Nvidia drivers not work with the game. There's been a fix since, but even now it manages a grand 1 to 3fps on the lowest imaginable spec, glad I'm still on XP. Wish they'd just cut their losses, scrap Vista and give us all an XP DX10 patch.
