Linksys did "fix" the WRT54G many, many times.

Have a look at all the asinine models and hardware revisions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

The WRT54GL came about years later because people got pissed when they bought a WRT54G that wasn't the same as the other WRT54G routers on the market. Linksys crippled the memory and RAM and switched to a different OS, which made it impossible to use DD-WRT. The WRT54GL was a re-release of an earlier WRT54G revision - the one people wanted - with a $5 or $10 price increase.

If you got stuck with some other flavor of the router you had to hope it was compatible with DD-WRT, figure out if you could use the full version or the micro version, figure out if you could kill off the built-in VxShit OS, learn the ridiculously convoluted reset procedure to allow flashing, etc.

Just because a definition is "rare" or "old" doesn't mean you get to ignore it.

The 5000 and 6000 series processors have TRASH video on the i5s.

    https://communities.intel.com/...

Go through a few pages and CTRL+F i5.

I first began digging into this after struggling to get a triple display configuration working. The hardware has the bandwidth to run 3x1920x1080@60, but it's not officially supported on my 5th gen i5 while it was on my 4th gen i5. I was able to get it working with a specific driver, but the thing is turd slow. There's no reason it shouldn't work and work well - the GPU is better than the previous gen specwise in every way. But Intel is fucking shit over on the driver side.

Mod me down all you want, clowns. I'm not the only one who knows that the newer i5s have gimped graphics.

  15. That's a little young to be going senile. I'm not thinking of premiums, I'm thinking of paid cable, which was a shock to many people. Why would you pay for TV and then pay for the channels? Because of the extra channels it carried, paid for by your subscription, and not ads.

Of course I've noticed the commercials on cable channels. That's my fucking point. Cable WAS commercial-free. Now it's not. Amazon is making ads optional now. Tomorrow they won't be optional. Does anyone remember Hulu Plus?

That definition is incorrect. The word already has a precise definition - to kill 1 in 10. The "deci" in the word should clue you into the amount, and the "mate" should clue you into what happens to the amount. To add another definition that is less precise adds ambiguity and confusion to the language. It is counter to the sole purpose of language. It is incorrect.

  20. No, and I can tell you're under 40 years old. Cable TV used to have channels that had no commercial interruptions. They were not premium channels like HBO and Shotime are today. It was a major selling point.

  21. Congrats, you have an older i5. Try a twitch.tv stream in Flash on a newer i5 (may I recommend saltybet?). The "HD Graphics" line is now the shit tier. it used ot be the higher tier. The higher tier has been rebranded. It is called "Iris Pro".

  22. The older i5s have better support. Read my post or STFU. Try watching twitch.tv in Flash (their default) on a modern i5. Your CPU temps will skyrocket, you won't be able to composite shit on a second monitor, the stream will stutter to shit, etc.

  23. It's optional today, it's not optional tomorrow. Yes, this upsets me. Look at Samsung TVs. Look at cable TV. You seem to be very quick to defend advertisers. Are you one of them? Do you make money off of ads?
Ads invade privacy, hog bandwidth, and present serious security risks. I'd rather swim naked in the Ganges.

  24. I know, but on release/reveal day the one on the front page for $199 or whatever it was was the one with ads.
I was lucky to ad that to my cart and check out before it was gone.

I would have paid $20 more for it as well. But the fact that they went into the ad game in that manner made them a no-go for me. Just like Samsung TVs. Fuck that shit.

  25. I'm not upset, you clown. I canceled the order after finding out it had ads. It cost me nothing. It cost Amazon a sale.
Ads are never optional. There was a time when cable TV had no ads because viewers paid for the content through their cable subscription. Now cable TV has ads out the ass. If you give them an inch, they will take a mile.
