The best authentication has three components:

    1. Something you know (such as a passphrase), plus...
    2. Something you own (such as the ID number from a FOB which rotates IDs every minute), plus...
    3. Something you are (biometrics).

You don't use biometrics *instead* of the passphrase or FOB; you use it to augment the effectiveness of those techniques.

When you push all these things down a wire, they're all effectively "something you know".
The only difference is that a remote attacker will have a harder time knowing what your WoW authenticator will say at any given time than you will, and that a local attacker will have a harder time knowing what the thumbprint reader will say about your thumbprint than you will. 2 and 3 are easily broken by hitting you in the head and taking your finger and authenticator.

    Apple: Doubtful.

Google: Google doesn't make end products, they have OEMs do it, so they're insulated there. Apple could sue on all of the software stuff, but since Google isn't the one making the devices, and using Android is "free" for OEMs, they'd have a hard time getting large awards for damages. Apple's goal is to win cash and to maintain their dwindling market share. If Google lost a suit, damages would be low or non-existent, and stock Android would have some minor change that OEMs override. No big deal. Android is like a hydra at this point, with each OEM being a head.

Microsoft: Windows Phone phones are actually quite different in design and UI compared to the iPhone and Android phones, and MS has the resources (entire battalions of lawyers and its own patent portfolio) to defend itself properly. If Apple were to sue, MS would fire back, and it would be a tit-for-tat on technology (actual technology, not UI bullshit) patents each of them hold. There's no huge financial victory possible, and there's no smackdown to a major competitor.

That's everyone in the game today. Nokia is gone, Motorola Mobility is gone, and RIM is on their way to being bought out for their patents. Suing the biggest Android OEM is the best way to get a large cash award and disrupt a competitor's spot in the marketplace. If Samsung fails to score on the appeals, HTC will be next.

Mice aren't people. Humans breed at a rough maximum of 1 per year for 30 years. Mice pump out offspring like, well, mice. Menopause isn't an exhaustion of supply - there are enough eggs in one human ovary to last a hundred lifetimes. We already can delay and reverse menopause, just as we can with andropause. The side effects (basically CANCER OUT THE ASS) are not worth it. We can get better at this to a point, but it will take genetic therapy to really roll back the clock.

The "goal" behind finding a way for humans females to produce new eggs is to increase the viability of pregnancy later in life. There are plenty of old eggs left, but they're damaged. But fresh eggs won't solve anything since the ovum is just a small, small part of that equation. You'd need a fresh uterus as well. Fresh mammaries. Fresh digestive tract. Fresh cardiovascular system. Etc., etc. Some of these externalities are things we a pretty good at either keeping young and healthy or working around if they prove to be an issue for a pregnancy. Some of them we are not.

Regardless, even if we had a mechanism for producing new ovums, and could control all other aspects of the pregnancy, it wouldn't matter. The new eggs produced would be just as damaged as the old ones, and just as damaged as an old man's sperm. And again, there is no such mechanism in humans.

My vehicle was still there when I came back, but it cost a pretty penny to get the broken window fixed, a new ignition switch, etc.

A real security system needs both. Real security that slows down or stops attacks combined with the "oh shit", brown-stain-in-pants, intimidation factor.

It also depends on the criminal. The two barking GSDs in the window may deter a professional thief who makes his money on doing his stuff quietly, but the meth-head will just fire off a few rounds with his 9mm, and score something to take to a fence for another bottle of shake-and-bake.

Personally, I'd take the laser system. Combined with a real alarm and in-depth security like sturdy, locking hall and bedroom doors, it will keep a good number of potential burglars at bay.

A "real security system" is impossible.
