if it makes you feel any better, your dad would still be dead.
just because they showed this to work on a few mice today doesn't mean that it will work at all in humans and even if it does, it will take years before it is ever actually available to us.
as for hate, feel free to feel it - but I have no clue at all as to where you would point the hate
there is no cure yet - unless your father was a mouse, and even then, it hasn't shown to cure anything yet. It just shows that over the time period examined, with the mice that were used, they saw the results that they saw.
Apple's software is the best desktop software there is. This is widely, widely accepted in the industry.
Remind us which industry you are referring to since it doesn't seem to be in your article.
I'm gonna assume that the industry that widely accepts Apple's software as the best would be... the industry of Apple software.
Otherwise you have a pretty statement there with nothing to back it. While you may love Apple and stroke it lovingly, nearly all you wrote is a matter of opinion and large chunks of it could be replaced with any vendor name and still read the same.
Now I'm just gonna sit back and get modded down for thinking raionally and asking for crazy things like facts, references, and maybe even logic in a post. I'm so silly like that.
When I was in high school - there were no guys that danced around and had limp wrists and listened to Madonna and Cher, etc etc etc - all those other stereotypes. But upon graduation - many people came out in the safer environment of college (depends on the college).
I would argue that for your own safety, you might want to handle your love for computers in the same way. I too enjoyed computers while in college, but in order to get by I just did at home and didn't tell anyone about it.
To be different in any way in high school is asking for trouble - do your own thing at home, but there is no need to start a computer club at school. Seriously.
I'm pretty sure that guys that came into school and annouced that they just had sex with a goat in the parking lot would have been 100 times more popular than the kid that started a computer club.
Don't get me wrong - I make a pretty solid living now being a total comptuer geek - but in high school I spent most of my time trying to see girl's breasts in person.
no seriously - like the subject says - until they develop a digital technology that invades my ass without my permission - then they best lay off prepending "Ultra" to that shit. otherwise you leave yourself no room once they do develop ass prodding software in ads.
I did something really very similar a few years back, except that instead of a removable nametag, I had "HERPES" tattooed on my cheekbones in gangsta script.
That guy in the article was annoyed with people not being friendly enough in regards to his nametag - he should try that face tattoo and he will see some seriously unfriendly people.
Depends on which newsgroup you are trying to use. Some of them have no content but spam. (and not just the pron ones - but financial and for sale ones also come to mind)
and also the Sections box on the left (which does have a Games section, so that is nice), rarely updates properly. It will work for a bit, and then not work...
And I have checked my icons settings in the preferences - and they are all set to display... but I regardless I get none.
If I go into my settings and try to add the Games slashbox to my homepage - there is no "Games" there... does that mean that list is manually updated and not keyed off some database table?
The icons never show up on stories for me anymore (as of the past few days) - they show up at the top bar, but not in the story at all. For awhile multiple icons at the same time were showing up... stacked - I thought at first they were some way of showing that it was a little bit of a few topics. But now I think it was just bugs.
That and I haven't had moderator status in pretty much a year now.
I have one of the Zalman deals on mine - copper and many blades that fan out. They all meet together at the bottom and at first glance it looks like a solid block there. I put a little bit of thermal grease on my CPU, spread it around, and then put that heatsink down on it all and fired it up. I smelled a burning smell, but it all worked for about a week. Then it started overheating and shutting down all of the time.
I took off the heatsink and all of the thermal paste was gone. The heatsink is made up of many thin fins and they are all pressed together at the bottom - the heat drove the grease up into the spaces between all of the fins and that was what I was smelling.
I put on a thicker layer and tried it again and the system runs without a hitch (or a smell) now.
So I guess there are sometimes needs for a bit more paste/grease.
I don't run the fastest/newest stuff, so when I bought an AMD 2200+, it costs me about $75.
I go on Priceline and I look for the cheapest stuff I can get, ideally from a place that I can trust (have used in the past). Ideally there are warrenties and stuff - but since I'm shooting for the cheapest... I get what I pay for.
As a result, I just sort of take it in stride - I can make my system the way I want and have to just eat it if I lose the processor. But since it is only $75, it isn't that big a deal to me.
Were I making hundreds of these computers a year, or were I using the top of the line processors when they first came out - then I would likely care - but I can risk $75 on a computer that I build every year (at most).
That said - I do tend to use Crucial's RAM since I've never had issues with them - and they tend to cost a little more - but the difference is a few dollars - slightly different than processors.
I have been building a cluster and trying to have a fast buy cheap node and the Athlon has helped me with that. A cluster with the default heatsink would be loud as hell - so I use a quiet system instead - as a result, I use the thermal compound that comes with that. I've already had a case where the system was overheating and I wondered if it fried the chip - but the motherboard detects heat issues and shuts down if that is the case.
if it makes you feel any better, your dad would still be dead.

hardly conclusive in terms of a cure.
well for starters, the article says "C. elegans have two sexes: males and hermaphrodites "
I think that alone shows that we have found the missing link.
Not to mention the ability to survive space shuttle disaster and still mate like crazy.

If he starts a toaster club, then I'll totally join.

Be very prepared to get laid like crazy once you establish said club.
It is feasible that you might be able to work out some sort of endorsement deal with Trojan if you play your cards right.

Just keep me posted when the hookers start using this technology - then you'll see some jumping up and down and arm flailing on my part.
Snow Crash is a fun read

them bitches never wanted to make out
mirror or not, if memory serves, it shouldn't matter - bar codes are palindromes
does he have a mullet now?
I love you.
I got a big tattoo of my SSN in barcode format right on my forehead.
That way people know who I am.
It is unclear from any of those links if this makes me cool or not.

Okay. I'm back now.
I'm sick of you all. I'm leaving. Inconsiderate bastards. All of you.
speaking of which - can I get another copy of that "Barthalamu's Super Terrific Dance Dance Dance Mix" that you made for me?
thanks.

This Slashdot is a well oiled machine.
no, but the sex is incredible
huh? why would this allow exploits any more easily than any of the other languages in .NET?

the chick in the newest cartoon is pretty hot.
Nazi or not.
