Listen to the man, he knows of that which he speaks.
More bandwidth may not solve all the problems, but it'll sure as hell solve some of them.
I don't know how many of you still remember the dialup days, or even used dial-up. When the schoolkids got home, they'd start hitting AOL and you'd notice the lag.
It's not as bad now, what with me having a 25/25Mbps line. But there's still a very wide range of criminal acts that I'd perform to have my own 1 Gbps line.
Probably. But that's how I see things. I had a reasonably pleasant childhood. I've tried to make sure my kids were at least as happy. I'd like my grandkids to grow up like I did.
Most of us will live through hideous, insane, crippled "conventional" old age. I'd risk cutting that short. I'm 51 so I'll be toast in twenty years anyway.
Yeah, I plan to skip that "conventional" old age part, anyway.
Sure, I'd go. There are many who would. Probably all of them older veterans, like me. I'd rather live peacefully, but to help my country recover from something so serious as a major nuclear accident? I'm up for it. I have children and grandchildren. I'd do anything to make certain that they can live normal lives.
That's correct. Getting rid of those crapware apps is the major reason I looked into rooting my phone.
The procedure is pretty straightforward and if you are reading this you're probably geeky enough to be able to handle it. Go to XDA's wiki for the procedure.
I've rooted three phones using the procedure. It would probably be a good idea to read up on the xda-developers forum for G2/Desire, too, just to have get some useful background. Note, there are alternate instructions that include using the Visionary app. I have never used it. XDA has a lot of horror stories about visionary, so I've always steered clear of it.
I'm damned glad I waited for a TMO G2. I've heard a lot of horror stories about AT&T. I wouldn't even consider them. I know They're trying to buy TMO, but I don't care so much about that. I have a rooted G2 with a custom ROM that does everything rather nicely. This phone will probably outlast me.
In fact, Everyone who pointed out that the privacy issue was fixed, thank you.
After the initial hoopla about IPv6 and the discovery of the MAC address junk, I just ignored it.
P.S., I don't think that pinging will work unless you have a machine that answers the pings. Of course, since it's obviousl that I've let my network knowledge rust, I could be wrong.
IMHO, if the IPv6 spec drops the Interface ID requirement, then IPv6 use may change. I don't think that anyone is particularly jumping for joy to have their machine uniquely identified on the net.
... and sitting behind the mystical, seven anonymous proxies, the method is useless to find anyone actually smart enough to properly operate a computer.
I suppose it'll be helpful to find the average user who's playing at cyberstalking or sending threatening emails.
self-paced study courses have a major problem. They need a specific type of student. The student must be exactly smart enough to easily learn the material, yet dumb enough not to play the system to "get it over with."
Self-paced study material can be a major frustration for students who need a little more help (perhaps to have a concept presented differently) or who need more practice. If a student does not grasp something quickly enough, a rapid demoralization occurs and learning stops.
When smarter students becomes bored, they too become frustrated and learn ways to play the courseware. That rapidly supplants learning the material.
Self-paced learning is absolutely not a solution to a major need in education. It can't replace stand-up training. BG should spend some time and get himself an education degree and then spend a few years teaching before making grand pronouncements. He has no qualifications to speak on this subject.
I usually smile and node sagely when Anonymous nails someone. I think I can find it in my heart to applaud for this one. Not a wimpy golf clap, either. A great honking big "Indiana Jones Saves the Universe" round of applause.

Sharks that taste good or sharks with good taste?
I vote: THUNDERSTRUCK!
Thanks. It's just part of getting older, I guess.

Good points. And you're right, they sure as hell are trying to get there. You forgot the Sony rootkit on music CDs.
It always amazes me when people who have good product go out of their way to dick with people who like their products.

And some people still wonder why many phone owners want to root their phone or flash a custom ROM?
I can uninstall or install anything on my G2. Sprint is acting like Sony.
Bad, Sprint! Bad!
I'm in. Dump the crap shows and start showing some classics and new content.
See ei ole internet vabadust. See on Internet Vabadus!
Don't you mean the IP and port of the TOR proxy I'm visiting through?
Thanks.

They're all Greek to me, even if they run with a Romish crowd ;-)
I'm amazed. Truly amazed. For a mainstream organization to define hacking and cracking in nice, black and white terms is somehow very satisfying.
It's been what, 2000 years or so, and they've finally done something okay. I honestly applaud their common sense on this.
I've been running one of their free routers for months now. Is this some kind of time warp?
Must be. I've had one for quite awhile. It has better wireless than the telco router. Easier to configure, too.

I wonder if we should replace the bull with a huge boar. Then we could have bacon!
