not trying to argue, but it seems to me that if something as simple as this is patented then why don't we see more patent disputes? For example: I have a Motorola Droid 4 and it has a power button on what would be considered the top/center of the phone. I have a few other phones from a few other companies that also have power buttons on the top/center of the phone. Why don't they go after each other for that type of design? Apple went after other tablets for a similar design..
It just seems like this is a completely mundane issue and shouldn't of even been allowed to be patented.
I love how people are bringing up his slave owning in the modern day. Of course it's not right by today's standards, but you know, back then it was actually kewl to own people.
Besides this isn't about his slave owning. It's about his scientific endeavors. Put all the bad things and negativity about him aside for the moment and we can talk about it later, but for now, let's talk about the kewl shit he did to help make the world a better place.
you sarcasm is lacking so I will answer accordingly.
No, it counts how many steps you take in any given period of time. Some people use them as exercise devices and attempt to take at least 10,000 steps in a day. Not sure how many miles that translates into, but i am sure a quick google search or some math whiz from here can figure it out.
There are also news articles all over the place...on other sites. If you always get your science news from/. you will always be a few seconds behind everyone else. I had the luxury of watching it live and it was great. I even put a video of the last 2min on my youtube channel:D
Actually it doesn't exist anymore. it was only around in the first second of the universe. It decayed into the other subatomic particles like quarks and photons. That is why they had to build a 10Bn$ machine to recreate conditions just after the big bang. Didn't you read anything on the LHC in the last 5yrs?
While this is absolutely probable, it is highly unlikely. Blackberry was the business phone that was on top for ages and did a damn good job of it. However, since iPhone and Android have hit the market they have been slowly pulling the rug out from under RIM. RIM either was too confident in their product or simply failed to change and is now a cumbersome device. If they had changed along with the tech and developed new services, a better OS and possibly even upgrading some of the hardware, they may not be in this position. Apple and MS had to change strategy and they did good at it. IMO, I believe RIM is too far gone to recover.
I could be wrong and I do hope the best for RIM as they are/were a fantastic company for a very long time.
Here they go changing the definition of a word again. Their definition of interacting is now like my son(in 3rd grade) is interacting with some 6th grader. Even though my son and this other kid never saw each other, they are 'interacting' because they go to school in the same building.
Pinning to the taskbar is no different than adding shortcuts to the quick launch(XP).
I pin items to the taskbar for most commonly used apps. FF, Chrome, Libre Office, Virtual Box and a few random games.
However, I still use the start button for searching for those non-frequent apps. services.msc, msconfig, and a few other maintenance types that are run every month or so.
IMHO, I think dropping the start button is not a bad idea, but rather dumb if it is only for aesthetic purposes.
I remember simply dragging and dropping to the Quick Launch bar. If I had to locate an app without the shortcut, I traipse through the directory tree and right-click drag and drop the EXE and save as a shortcut. Not sure what difficult way you went about it, but it must be Linux. Seriously, once I started using Linux I started doing everything the hard way:/
True, but the dock is actually all on its own. I have never had the dock crash the OS, but if the taskbar crashes out there goes the rest of explorer.exe
spell check wouldn't catch this. That is why it is always good to proofread your work. LAZINESS! oh wait, this is/....I should assume that proofreading is futile
IF you do it yourself then you are likely technical enough to fix most issues yourself. That's how it works for me. I fix all my issues...IF I ever have any, because I do it right the first time.
I have to agree. SSDs are dropping price rather well. Crucial has 2 drives on sale, a 128GB and a 64GB, in my area. The prices are 90$ and 60$, respectively. I currently have an AMD FX 8120 8-core w/16GB RAM on a SATA 3GB magnetic drive. I can only imagine next month when I get an SSD that it will scream blindingly fast through any apps I throw at it.

too late...I just did
I am not a programmer or software designer. Can someone explain to me why something as mundane as this can be patented?
Yeah, but when a corporation is charged with a crime, why are they not tried and why does no one go to jail?
When people are charged with a crime, tried, and convicted, do they not go to jail?
The LHC found the higgs at 125GeV. It can go up to 7 TeV. There are many more discoveries that this massive machine will find.
Well then you can't blame Jefferson for the reason so many public schools want to shove a bible up your ass nowadays.
...and his enemies were the anonymous cowards...ooooo

oh, if I only had a mod point for you.

MY MOM!!!!
Comedy? I thought it was a documentary...
I don't know how you derived shooting out of an attempt, but I'll go with it. :/

Probably a bad analogy, but I gave it a shot.

Why do you have to post as AC when you clearly have a good argument?
I give this a plus for damn awesome trollness...
