    It really annoys me that sometimes when I want to find a quick reference to how to do something relatively simple, that could be documented on a one page bulleted list, all I can find is videos of some illiterate idiot rambling on about the topic with loud techno blasting over the narration.

    And here lies a problem for Apple fans. They think that their fandom is opposed by a fandom for Samsung mobile devices.

    Which is wrong. People don't fanboy Samsung products. They just use them.

    With the serious keyboard quality problem in the current Apple laptops, the resale value will plummet to near zero on these models. Who wants to spend much to take on some other user's problem?

  13. At my last job we had an Unholtz-Dickie shaker table whose controller was hosted on a Windows 2000 machine. The machine was only used to run the shaker table, and not connected to anything at all by network. We also had a newer U-D shaker table. It's controller was a Windows XP machine.

    They both just worked.

    Tektronix used to sell digital oscilloscopes that ran Windows 95. There are probably still plenty of them out there in use.

    I live in a sensible part of the country that isn't hit with those storms.

    My house is over 100 years old. It isn't just 'part of the country' it's also where you build. The crappy land is the open land that nobody has built on, or is 'cleared' by nature every decade or so. Nobody should build there.

    If you want a 'scenic' dwelling right adjacent to the ocean, you should pay the penalty for living there, not the entire rest of us.

    A lot of military spending goes to health care and pensions for retired or disabled military personnel.

    Also, the one that spent for military hardware goes to we'll paying tech jobs in plants and facilities all over the country. It isn't poured into a hole where it disappears.
