To be hones, that has more to do with the dumbass, oligopolian US mobile phone marked. Of course the oligpol / cartel of mobile service providers want to control what their users access. And if they control what phones their customes are allowed to buy, it's like handing them the market control on a platter.

The european model is much, much better. Buy a GSM phone, get a povider. Use. Rinse, repeat. There are some providers that lock a phone to their network, if they have subsidized the phone, but that is about it.

From what I've seen with Windows Mobile (Or whatever they are calling it these days), crashing seems to be the trend. If your phone is 100% stock-from-the-box, it might be stable. But the moment it gets any load, like lots of appointments in the calendar or a third party program, it makes Windows ME look stable.

Now, I have my Sony Ericsson t68i, still, for a reason. It went 6 MONTHS without a reboot, an uptime I find quite incredible and somewhat of an ideal. I just made a habit of charging it every third day and shut the sound off in theatres and cinemas. The WM phones I have tried function OK the first two weeks, the star acting like they were on dope. They seem to suffer from the crud problem of Windows.

In windows it takes (for them) 3 minutes pr. machine and some 20 odd mouseclicks and a lot typing and searching .For me it's option - space, tpe "Pri" choose Printer Tools, and pick the printer from the Rendevouz^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Bonjour list. Done in less than 10 seconds. It could be done faster, but after I started doing this, all the names on the printers have disappeared so I have to browse after MAC-address. wonder why.... My standard printer shows up automatically, however, so it's not a problem.

Also, I get that "oh shit! My job security would be shot if everyone could do this!" look everytime I do stuff like this.

I use Macs because they make me efficient. I feel more comfortable sith a Mac and lots and lots of nifty solutions make it a better platform for me. An example: When I work in Photoshop, all I need to do in order to view all the open pictures is to take the mouse in the lower right corner. Expose kicks in and I can see every picture I'm working on. If I want to see all the open apps and switch to another, mous in the lower left corner. Another example; everything is drag'n'drop. I'm composing an email and need a picture from a website? Just drag the pic from safari over in the email totally seamlessly. And both the email client and safari are preinstalled. Easy-peasy.

There is so much to tell, but just try it. If it is good for you use it. If not, don't.

Yesterday the TONO, rights holders organization, issued a press release about their agreement with iTunes (sic!). After that some forum guys went on to try local credit cards to purchase music with limited sucess and published the results. The country manager had to deny, deny, deny, looking like a fool in todays press conference about tiger. Nobody asked about Tiger, of course.

It may seem that the music industry do everything possible in their power to stop the *bang* PR factor of Apple. This is, of course, utter bullshit. Long explanation: The Apple crowd has a love / hate relationship with the company. They are total fanbois up to the point where they discover some glitch in the production and suddenly; the company is the devil.

Now, we all remember the battery discussion from a couple of years ago. this was startet, more or less, by the Neistat brothers with their "OMFG!!!! The battery only lasts a couple of months past the one year guarantee!!!" campaign. This is of course, true with any li-ion battery under certain circumstances. What they didn't mention was that any battery with a factory defect would fail a long time before the guarantee expired and could be returned. They also represented the moronic statements of a firest-line clueless helpdesk guy as the view of the company, they ignored the 99$ replacement program, the third-party alternatives etc.

Now, if what you said was true, the whole Internet would be chock full of postings about the "low quality" of the iPods. I have seen a lot of critisism of the iPod: The battery, the heaphone socket, broken iPods delivered and had to be returned, but I have never, ever seen an iPod HD fail due to sports activity. Not in real life, not on the net. I use my 3G iPod with sport activity (Jogging, biking and rowing. Shaking, hard falls and sea water. What a combo!) it works as good as ever. My faimly have severaly HD based iPods and jog with them. No failing.

No. If we (you) tax the hell out of huge cars, and lower the tax on small cars, people will trade in their beaters to get a smaller cheap car. At least now when the petrol price is "high" (You think todays price is high? You're in for a surprise!)

If you tax gasoline more, you increase the burden on everyone, including poor people that cannot afford to buy a new gas-efficient car.

Eh, no. There is a price point that need to be found but good public campaigns and a really low price on efficient cars (and when they sell more, the price goes down. Yay capitalism). Expand train lines and use ISO containers more. Make trailers only do short haul. Watch the transport costs go down.

And where does the tax money go? Does it fund research on alternative fuel sources? No, it is spent on pork barrel projects by Congress.

Well I'm sure that you as a responisble citizen will see to that.

As/if oil gets scarce, the price will go up naturally, and the market forces will dictate people drive more efficient cars or alternatively-fueled cars.

This is a multiple front war: we need to cut down on petrol use. So we need better public transport, and cheaper. We need good prices on cars that are eco-friendly, and in USAians case; non-terrorist inticing. We need to get rid of the idiotic SUV class, and replace them with eco-friendly roomy cars like the Voyager class, but with better engine control. We need to scrap old cars that chug around and pollute. So; tax large engined cars a lot to finance way lower taxes on smaller cars.
