I've been playing violent video games for going on 20 years now (OK, so the graphics were less realistic) but not once have I ever felt the urge to go out and kill anyone - until last night.
My mate's daughter had just been given the Brats Movie game (I think that's the name) and after 20 minutes of listening to the music and the "like so cool" game play (not to mention it's teaching this poor girl to be a dumb american teen) - I was ready to strangle someone...
Unfortunately, a large percentage of the Aussie populous don't care if it doesn't get in the road of them enjoying a beer.
As far as this country has come in general internet growth, so many Aussies still aren't using or understanding the internet any better then your average American (and seemingly Australian) politician. Bring on the tubes eh?
Seriously, how can it taint your precious family orientated Wii if you don't buy it?
The Wii is already full of violence, played Mario Carts (or whatever that game is called)? Just because it's cartoonalized and doesn't have any blood it's ok, HELLO it's still violence!
Media groups need to get a life, parents groups need to stop getting together and wasting time they could spend parenting...
I dunno, CACert actually requires you to see 2 people in person at minimum to get a high enough score to use longer lasting certificates.
I myself went to a JP and had them verify my identity before submitting it to CACert for full certification - more then you have to do to get certified at some paid for sites...
I don't know, a phisher or scammer who thinks he can rake in the money probably wouldn't have a problem buying a 'real' certificate from an 'accountable' ca.
1: They would probably have enough money from scams. 2: They would recoup that money.
The 'accountable' ca's stop caring if your details are valid once they get to a credit card, and I can get a high-value disposable one of those at the local post office, scammers wouldn't bother they'd just use someone's they nicked...
Hi, I'm a (group of) big business(s), I don't personally think I'm making enough money... Where can we possibly get more money to line our pockets? Oh I know, lets start suing everyone! And to make it easy, lets start with customers - they're an easy target as they didn't fill our coffers enough in the first instance... Then move onto everyone else, for simply not offering to worship us...
1) Start a business 2) Cry piracy 3) Piss off everyone by slapping lawsuits on them 4) ???? 5) Profit!!!
Heh, another reason I prefer OO over MSO - I don't have to spend ages turning off all the "auto helping you" features - but yes, there are for sure some areas where it could be improved, and tables is one.
But must we steal what I consider the worst part of the latest incarnation of MSO?
How do you tax a pirate? :)

Until the site ends up on the blacklist...
There's a huge hole in their logic here.
The initial blacklist will be 10000 entries, a patheticly small amount in consideration of what may well be ont here in the long run.
All I see coming from this is no-one complaining about it = SUCCESS!
As you add more rules, it'll slow down, it'll become less predictable, and it'll hit more false positives...
Then people complain but it's too late.

Hopefully someone that does it for the good of the people, not their own wallet.
Who knows, perhaps putting them on average wage will make them work harder to improve that...
Just using HTTPS would be enough to bypass just about any filtering short of IP based filtering...
we're scared of the world outside the United States".
Wait? There is a world outside of the United States?
I have a friend who's American in law thought Australia was a 10 hour drive away...
"By force?" You want the people of Australia to storm the capital?
I like the way you think...
I voted for the lesser of two evils, the current government was not the one I voted for...
Give the man enough alcohol, he'll eventually quiet down to incoherent gibberish :)
Except our hard earned tax payer $'s which are rapidly going down in value...
Sad.... but true...
Australia's 3 commercial TV stations have no-one else to blame but themselves.
1) Taking MONTHS to YEARS to bring content in that we want to watch.
2) Playing such content inconsistently including mixing up old and current seasons (*Pokes channel 10*)
3) Showing so much crap!
http://www.getdropbox.com/ - Store, Sync and share your files - versioning is standard. Piss easy to set up on Windows, Linux and Mac.
Not much more to say :)
I was actually pretty keen to buy this game until I read that it was DRMed, I only just found out the restrictions of the DRM used.
Am I going to buy this game? No way in hell.
Am I going to download the game illegally? Probably not.
Is the lost profit from me boycotting the game going to be counted against the piracy column? You bet.
Surely we can all agree that the oldest scam around is taxation, even the egyptions were in on that one...

The best you get is 6 month certificates and no real level of information shown for verification.
You need to have quite a few points to have any value.
It's seriously beginning to get on my nerves...

Post his private physical address here and the Slashdot mob will nut him...
How much of your CPU will be used to provide 3.2Gbs?
USB and firewire are two whole different ballgames tho - it's very close to comparing apples and oranges... or at the very least, apples and pears...
