I agree with everyone in that Raiser's Edge is an excellent solution. It's very powerful and has a lot of functionality. However, it is pretty pricy. Depending on what you could spend, you should consider checking out this article - http://www.idealware.org/low_cost_donor/download.php - it compares functionality and price for 33 different low cost donor management solutions!
I used to despise marketing as well, but I was (and you are) confusing marketing with advertising. In reality marketing is all about finding the right messages for the right segments of the market which is exactly what Dell has done. I can't imagine that they though this singular strategy would appeal to over 50% of the world's population. This is a targeted effort at a specific group of people who actually will be excited about Della.com.
The biggest environmental issue from ink printers is the packaging and cartridge - not the ink itself. This "eco printer" does nothing to address the real issue.
This is obviously just a way for cops to more easily arrest the wrong person. If Suzzy looks like a serial killer in her photo then it will be easier on the conscience to assume she did it, rather than looking elsewhere. If I have learned anything from TV crime shows, happy people never commit crimes!
This would have disastrous results for government efficiency. Can you imagine how much worse the government's response to disasters such as Katrina would have been if they had to navigate issues regarding the spending of money.
What if the money earmarked to save white-peoples' properties had been instead spent on minorities!!! What if money designated for tax breaks to big business had been instead spent on maintaining a proper levee system?? Oh wait...
Seriously though, non-profits already have to manage many different funds for restricted gifts which produces an operational nightmare. I can only imagine that scaling this to an organization the size of the federal government would be incredibly costly to administer.

Hey! Maybe we could call it the Limbaugh Flu....
Limbaugh Flu. Swine Flu. I fail to see the distinction.
At first glance I read this as "New Moon Found In Saturn's G-String"
Gives a whole new meaning to the moon part..
The year of the boar plus or minus 12 years.

That's the problem with idealistic people who get rich. Suddenly their ideals change.
