  1. Re:Its a Two Party System on Australian Government Considers Copying UK Copyright Law Ideas · · Score: 1

These are indeed good points, as things stand now it is only effectively a two party system and I will admit that my research around election time was fairly limited.

I really wish that there had been a viable alternative with a sensible technology strategy, but as far as that went during the elections neither side really differed in that regard at all. At least I can nominally say "Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos"

From the FAQ: If I decide to stop participating, how do I opt out? Your participation is entirely voluntary, so you may withdraw from the program at any time, with no consequence. If you decide to withdraw from the program, send us an e-mail at winpanel@microsoft.com with the word "remove" in the subject line, and we will take care of it. You should also uninstall our software. It then gives instructions to uninstall the software. And also, you don't get the software until you have participated for a certain amount of time.

Which is a nice little side benefit.

If I look at the US itunes store, I can immediately see that I am paying about 50% more for music compared to the US, as the standard track price in AU is $1.69

If I look at the cost of items on Xbox Live AU compared to the US (I believe that) the point costs are the same.

I know it works this way with the Wii, and the AU price conversion for cash -> Wii points is $1.50 -> 100 and the US one is of course $1USD -> 100, and the japanese one is 100JPY -> 100.

And of course the AU dollar hasn't been below 0.75USD since the Wii was released, and has typically been in the high 80s. And it certainly hasn't been below 90JPY since the Wii was released, but more people who ever see another countries store will see the same point cost, and think "Oh, they are paying the same prices"

1000m, not feet so roughly 3 times as much error. However, your point still stands, if you cannot find yourself on a localised map where you know you are within a couple of klicks of the centre, you shouldn't be using technology.
