    I think I gave up on this site because of censorship in their forums. They couldn't handle ideas contrary to their narrative. Not really surprised they are generating this kind of innanity.

    I tried to get the mother-in-law to watch Cagney and Lacey. She refused because the girls are ugly. Chalk it up to 80s fashion or perhaps the fact that was like Steinem's favorite show ever.

    This is someone with more education and a more interesting career than Steinem.

    It's just like radio.

    Sure, radio makes some money but they're really an advertising arm of the publishers. They expose people to things that they can then go and buy. They keep the publishers in business.

    Some publishers even PAID for the privelege.

    Google can just index everything else. They are the gateway for EVERYTHING, not just lame troll bait news organizations.

    Government can already do that with technology that existed before 911. I would expect that the data aggregators have adapted with the times and can tell you what your social media identities are and who all of your real accomplices are.

    A big splash happened recently when a cancer patient was jailed for being a "deadbeat". He did NOT get his meds while in jail.

    There is a government supplier of Epipens. The tech was originally developed for the military. So they have their own license. Epipens made for the Army are $50.

    The private market supplier isn't just making a slight bit more profit. They're making 10x for a product that has been around for about 20 years already (if not longer).

    This is more like aspirin than Gleevec.

    We have a Pharma CEO with a father that's a Senator. We have a set of conditions that seem terribly beneficial to a particular corporation. We have that corporation and it's CEO profiteering and acting like an old school robber baron.

    Follow the money.

    It looks as corrupt as hell.

    Yeah, CFCs are a nice excuse to create a monopoly out of thin air.

    Universal healthcare will get you rationing instead. Add to that shortages, long wait times, and just plain inferior care.

    We already have a public option. It sucks and it's underfunded. It has reimbursement rates that can obliterate medical providers.

    In the grand scheme of things, this is small potatoes. Companies get monopolies on drugs because they develop them and/or bear the costs of getting them tested and approved. This one just gets a lot of play because you can add a "but think of the children" angle to it. It is by far not the worst example.

    On the other hand, the real stuff still needs to be developed. If idiots run amok like a bunch of rioting Frenchmen, the really interesting drugs may be collateral damage.

    There are other things that are common here that aren't done in "more civilized" part of the world. That goes both ways.

    Plus it gets even worse than that. However restrictive and bothersome you might view the FDA, Medicare and Medicaid are even worse.

    As a real patient, I would rather the entire the entire industry not be destroyed either by crass idiots or morons with "good intentions".

    The issue isn't that simple and there's a lot at stake that you're blissfully unaware of.

    There is no reason you can't make proprietary games based off of (l)GPL code. No games or commercial applications (like Oracle) would exist otherwise. The license of a game engine is completely immaterial.

    Except for RMS, no one uses the strict form of GPL for shared libraries and such.
