The USB powered scanners are pretty awesome. I used to have a spot in my power strip dedicated to the scanner (it was under the desk and a pain to reach, so I didn't want to plug it in and out all the time), and now in a dorm, outlets are even more of a precious commodity, not mentioning the space. And since my computer is a MBP, I only have two USB ports, so I'm not going to waste one on a scanner full-time anyways (I could afford that at home with four), so it really works out well for me, except I have it stored on top of my shelf hiding some, um, incidental commodities.
he said it was his parents. Old people hold on to their phone numbers a lot longer than we youngsters do. For my own parents, we've at least had the same phone number ever since I started remembering phone numbers (15 years maybe?) And that goes for a lot of our neighbors too. when you don't have a cell phone and don't move houses, you can keep your number for ages. The only change to ours is area codes, and not everyone's area code even changed in the state when they added two new ones (little rock for example still uses the old 501)
Yeah, but how many people had to support office 2007, learn how to use office 2007, etc etc etc?
From what I've heard it's a little bit different, similar to the way that OO is a little bit different, and the lecturers in class still walked both sets of office users through the differences.
What's the difference?
I like to use the self check at walmart because inevitably there are three full carts waiting at every (open) register.
Plus it's kinda fun once you get the hang of it, although if my mom is with me, she will always grab the bag as soon as I put the last item in so that it doesn't get the chance to weigh it and I have to assure it that I didn't really want to bag the item anyways.
The only ironic ring 'Zaccari Memorial Parkin Garage' has to it is that memorials are for the dead. If you want to tag someone with a living person's name, you use the word 'Honorary' or none at all to leave it indefinite.
(You see the difference when you observe the different bouquets of flowers at the front of certain presbyterian churches over a stretch of years! Mrs. Hepzibah would be mighty displeased if she was greeted with a memorial floral arrangement at her 99th birthday dinner!)
Most of the apps I use are free or shareware. Adium, KVIRC, cyberduck, firefox, text wrangler, neo office, for example.
There is a community of people just as dedicated to building applications for osx as there is for the linux oses. They're also eager to make ports:p
I bought my MBP last year because I wanted something 'new', but I still use it because I like it.
Just 2 days ago I watched on DVD a movie still only in
theater-release -- I won't say where (it wasn't at my house), and I
won't say who (it wasn't someone I knew). So not only do you pirate movies and music, but you also pirate friendships and acquaintances!
That's why when people start talking about resolutions and I think that I might should do one, I don't wait until January to start xD The whole glutting yourself on what you want to give up doesn't really make sense, if you're going to be going off into the wilderness to like save someone and gorge yourself on food, that might be one thing, but if you're going into the wilderness to deprive yourself of food, then it doesn't make any sense xD
It seems like a lot of people do the glutting thing for Lent also.
(and a glut obviously doesn't mean just food and the ilk, but also letting yourself roll around in sloth before an exercise regime, or being extra nasty to people before you start trying to be a nice person)
My family likes to put in incandescents in winter and use them for extra heat, although recently we stopped bothering, and my dad just got a few heat lamps instead xD
I think you're overestimating the skill level that high schoolers are expected to get. The only people that are going to go straight to a design job out of high school with high school classes being their only formal instruction are going to be the ones following along at home with a knack for it. If you were talking about a university level course, what you said might apply:p
Everyone with an LJ id could log in and make comments on Deadjournal when entries called for users to be registered and vice versa.
Then punish him for truancy, his actual crime. What he was doing while playing truant has nothing to do with it.

Aw shi--- We start learning VBA in intro to engineering in a few weeks! (after three weeks of Engineering Economics)

It's not illegal to make it yourself! Yet!
There's already people pushing for alternate namespaces, so maybe you could support them.

Isn't the default in XP to immediately reboot instead of showing a blue screen?
I don't expect they'll be motivating at much more than walking speed.

It's good enough for Photoshop7 and about three hours of firefox!
what about triple A? ;.;
Yes! Biological patents! Twenty years closer to the realization of Jurassic Park!
