And guess why - it isn't a class action lawsuit. They had a binding arbitration clause in their EULA:
The class action filed by Girard Gibbs against LG was required by order of the federal court in Los Angeles to proceed through individual arbitrations against LG. There is no class action settlement. LG has agreed to extend the warranty as to the bootloop defect to 30 months from the date of purchase. At this time we recommend that you contact LG directly at 800-243-0000 or www.lg.com/us/support. If LG refuses to address your complaint, you are welcome to contact us at lgarb@girardgibbs.com.
Apparently you don't have to be retired either. Virtually every web site that talks about them lists age requirements, but they do not. In fact, they offer a discount for those under 50.
Since their own web site doesn't list requirements, I assume they're relying on non-authoritative sources to perpetuate the lies and remain "exclusive." Even their own web site says "Anyone 50 and over can get all the great member benefits" but doesn't specify anything for those under 50.
Speed: constant - cruise control Flow: road is nearly empty (rural interstate) Signs: I already know the route Traffic Radio? My phone is telling me when to detour and traffic radio does not cover boring, empty stretches of roads Potholes: none
If you consider that mind-numbing, you should probably look into your ADHD and get it medicated
ADHD has to do with shifting attention. Driving doesn't engage the brain. It's exceptionally dull on a long stretch with few cars and consistent speeds. If you don't have a secondary engagement to your brain (like music), it will be easier to get distracted from driving.
playing music from Spotify
Yes. Great example and thanks for proving my point? Good car systems like Android Auto have voice control. Cheaper ones require looking away from the road, so the quality and tech matters.
Well there are other acceptable discriminations like haircuts
Which doesn't actually fall along the lines of sex. If you're a woman and get a basic butch haircut, then your overcharging should be considered illegal discrimination.
Yes. And the local oil change place that has a "Ladies Day" discount. Or Ladies Night in a bar. It's going to have to be all or nothing and it seems that Tinder was the one to open that can of worms in court. In Illinois, gender discrimination has been found legal (see other poster before me).
This is just somebody at Ford patenting something so they can say they got a patent.
And at this rate, the patent will expire before it's able to be monetized. They should have just held on to it and waited to see if nobody has patented it in maybe 10-20 years.
The real problem with that is that there is no way to undo. Go back to the original web site after they clean up their act, and you can't re-enable it.
They use what's pretty much a permacookie for login. Not a session-based cookie. I didn't say that a 50 mile trip is long. That's just the threshold where the highway becomes mind-numbing without something else. I think a 5+ hour trip is long. And LA to NYC and back in a week sounds like it would take a week. A week that would take another week or two to recover from.
The loan is not in my name. That is the justification - my parents took out the loan in their name and my identity is not tied to them whatsoever.
For some reason, the federal government will only allow your parents to take on the debt if they are in a certain income bracket - even though it was laughable to think they could even afford it. While if they weren't eligible for the loans (i.e. made less money), I probably would have received more financial aid myself.
It was really more of a joke. In actuality, face-blind can see and respond to attractiveness just fine. But actually being able to quickly distinguish who belongs to what face is what's missing.
No, I use my information system to keep me alert with music and podcasts. Works just fine and the road always takes priority.
You said yourself that you use Spotify while driving, so I'm not sure what sort of prescriptivism you're trying for here.

It was decided that the activity/offer was not discrimination
Perhaps you should read the dictionary definition of discrimination.
Insurance companies are explicitly excepted in the laws.

AARP membership
AARP wouldn't be a proxy. It would be the business that discriminates by age.

It's no more proprietary than Micro USB, so the argument is still totally pointless.

Have you been on the interstate for 50+ mile trip? A car is already a rolling mind-numbing experience. A radio at least keeps you awake.
That's a great plan in case of a drill, but a terrible one if it's not. Time is too valuable.
And if the person using it didn't research it beforehand, the meaning isn't based on that. Just like people use words wrong all the time.
and there's limits to how much she can borrow
I hit those limits as a student. My parents took on the loans - but in name only. I'm the only one who has ever made payments on them.
On a laptop, there are plenty of places right on the laptop itself you could lift a print from.

I've always been curious to know how people who are face-blind find other people attractive
And how often do you hear people describing attractiveness by facial features? Maybe more people are face-blind than you think.
This could easily be Windows XP Embedded. It's not even EOL yet.
