I have a cheap PC that I use as an mp3 jukebox and dvd player. As such, I have a video card that has a tv output. They're really not uncommon, nor that expensive. So with that and a RF keyboard I can do all the things you want to do from the comfort of my couch.
So far it seems the only justification for a component mp3 player is that people are *really* anal about the appearance of their stereo.
If Microsoft were simply "in the dominant position" then I don't think people would hate them as much... It's how they abuse that position that has so many people riled up...
If Sun was as dominant as Microsoft is now, and then used that power to crush other companies, then people would hate Sun just as much as they hate Microsoft.
... the local weather channel on cable. Around here, that channel's programming is entirely powerpoint presentations on NT4. And it seems that noone who is responsible for running the station ever checks on it. When their system crashes, it will sometimes stay that way for weeks...

But is it really worth paying twice as much to have a stereo component that does nothing else other than look nicer than a PC?
