Better check up on power consumption there, factor in 124 hours a week at 240 watts (conservative) x150 machines. Take a look at how much money your company is "donating" in raw power consumption, then triple it, cause for every watt of heat dissipated, it takes 2 watts of AC to remove it. See if your CEO approves of that donation to FAH that he can't even write off for tax purposes. (no receipt)
(oh, and any corporation mad enough to allow it's users to watch movies at work has more productivity worries than whether they have the right codecs installed or not). Right! because noone in their right mind would EVER want to use a computer that is NOT in a workplace.
4 times? last I checked the human psychovisual system was only capable of detecting the difference in frame rate below 15 frames a second. That means its over 20x faster than necessary. Intel had it right, they tweaked for perceivable performance. Nvidia again has it wrong, and tweaks for benchmark scores. (higher is better, no thresholds). Now if nvidia had managed to run intels demo with 20x more particles, THEN we could congratulate them. As it is tho, they only managed to put their marketing department in charge of a technology demo. They lose all points.
The diagonal size is a completely useless metric, and always has been. before LCD came along, there would be a good 3-4 inches in most displays that weren't even viewable. diagonal measurement is a sales and marketing thing first and foremost and always has been. no respectable geek would ever mention it.
As for your 4:3 19" vs 16:9 22" comparison above, you have failed to make any point at all. except that a 25% increase in screen AREA is about a 200% increase in screen COST. Why are you suprised by this?
That's a nice bit of rambling you posted there. Too bad "widescreen" doesn't "widen" profit margins in the slightest bit, so your rambling is nothing more than gibberish.
As someone who was NOT a fan, having simply never read the book, or watched the first movie, I have a rather clean impression of the Sci-Fi version. Here's my quick and dirty review of something that I saw several years ago, and only once.
My first impression was "wow! this acting is terrible, it totally destroys the suspension of disbelief."
Then I got over that and suspension of disbelief was restored by the excellent job that was done with props and scenery.
Then I got to the end of the movie, and thought "well, there was certainly a very good story there, too bad they did such a terrible job telling it."
Mind you I usually have 20 - 40 tabs open in firefox all the time and I just resume my session on startup.
Please help me understand... WHY THE FSCK would you EVER want to do that? I don't mean this as a troll, so sorry for offending, I just can't fathom any reason why anyone would ever want to do that to themselves... It takes seconds to open a new tab and navigate to the page. It takes much longer than that to find the tab you want in the 40 some odd tabs you have open at the time. I'm all for tabs, they are awesome. But what do you gain by using them in that way? It just completely/boggles.
I had the same situation last time I went to a M$ event. Mine was silver, with loads of blue LEDs in the clear barrel. Clicking the clicker on the back would change the pattern of the lights blinking. You had to click about 20 to turn the damn thing off. Also, the pen died before the conference was even over. (I only took about a page of notes..) But I never did realize the parallels between that pen and microsofts products... thanks for that.
Cold is not a thing, it is the absence of something (heat). Heat, on the other hand, exists, and enters from all directions.
Heat is not a thing. Thermal Energy, on the other hand, exists, and dissipates in all directions. (Heat is defined as the dissipation of thermal energy)
So let's see here. We have a serverless infrastructure (peer to peer), but it requires a server (tracker). The powers that be don't like it, because they can't take control of the servers.
So along comes an ISP with a new way to control P2P by turning the ISP's gateways into the server.
Does this not give the ISP absolute control over the traffic? When they have this absolute control, don't you think they might use it to their benefit? Don't you think it just might give them a bit of "intimate" knowledge of the client activities?
I see no need for this "technology". It is not an advance. It's a trap.
The entire retail industry benefits. People are more likely to go out and do stuff (this is called spending) when its still light out than if it was not light out. This raises the gross domestic product (and taxes!). People's savings do not benefit.
Right, its stands for ZERO or more. In other words, his **AA is not incorrect, but you are incorrect for attempting to correct him. Also, *******AA is equally correct.
You mean the status bar, and safari hides that by default because it can be erronously updated with javascript. In other words, if you're relying on the status bar, you're your own worst enemy.
Non-volatile my shiny metal keister! What do you think is going to happen when you make a short in this thing, this thing that stores massive amounts of electrical power with little to no resistance? Right, plasmaball. Fiery death. Yes, supercapicators need armor. They cannot be safely put into the hands of the average consumer without it.

No lie!
how about you gather some evidence and publish it?
Of course, you'll lose your job over it. So decide now. Do you want to sleep at night? Or do you want to feed your family?

I bet you can guess why I never watched it again.
Gee, i dunno, thats a toughie... Maybe... every single consumer out there?

For starters there's your hair. YOU ARE NOT MARGE SIMPSON! That look does not work for you.

Not really.... Design is usually more expensive than production. Production cost is pretty much insignificant. (Except memory)

What bothers me about your comment is you would consider our founding fathers terrorism to be shameful.
MODS! I call you out! Parent post was NOT funny. Oh, it deserves the +5 rating, but in no way was it funny.
Insightful? Sure.
Informative? Maybe.
Funny? Hell no.
/sigh... well, there goes that karma.

Actually, we love this kind of stuff.

That's not the driver, thats bad hardware. It happens, get it replaced.
