I'm so confused now... Is Slashdot endorsing Microsoft now?
I can't keep up with what companies we are supposed to hate the most around here. Can somebody make a top ten list and refresh it every couple of days so I can keep up?
ANYONE that knows anything about firearms already knows that you store unloaded, with a trigger lock or in a locked box and with the safety on.
Sorry, I have to disagree with your broad generalization here. Expecting someone to be able to unlock and load a gun in a high stress self defense situation is unreasonable.
Granted, keeping a unlocked, loaded gun where a three year old can get to it is a disgrace, but I really disagree with your broad generalization.
I would also like to propose a distinction between "whining" and anecdotally highlighting a situation that is both unfair to individuals who decide to pursue an advanced education and harmful to the intellectual and scientific health of the country.
It isn't unfair, you knew when you decided to pursue a post-graduate education that you had loans and that the interest would accrue on them. You weighed your options and decided to continue with your education and let the interest accrue. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't call it unfair.
There's just too many loopholes, lobbying being the biggest. And I think the U.S. government has a lot of corruption to stamp out before it can be as flexible as the EU has been hitherto.
If they gain an advantage by lobbying, then they aren't really competing in a free market, are they?

My wife bought me a lapboard to use with my laptop and it has made a huge difference. There are plenty of different ones out there, but the one she bought is the Laptinator Plus
Now, is there any place where a large number of our founding father's are buried? Because we could double our efficiency by putting the politicians over their graves and harnessing the founding father's spinning motion. This was a cartoon on one of the Dilbert calendars with a company founder instead of a founding father, but I can't find it online. It is hanging on the wall in our office. If there was a scanner handy, I would scan it and post it somewhere.
My old sub-20 mpg vehicle is paid for. It isn't cost effective for me to buy a vehicle that gets 70/80 mpg yet. The higher gas prices go, the more cost effective it would be, but even then it would probably be more cost effective to buy (pay cash for) an older model Civic (or similar) that gets 30/40.
All that to say that I won't drive a VW Lupo or a Honda Insight because they are absolutely atrocious.
Yeah, but children have different needs. They will etch their names in the case, drop it, routinely hold it by the lid, drop it, spill stuff on it, drop it, get that cookie-saliva goo mixture from their fingers on it, etc. For a child, a tough slow box is worth more than a fragile powerful machine. I know this is/. and all, but perhaps what the children need are books and good teachers instead of laptops.
I've seen police training at the shooting range... From my observations, the best place to be in a police shootout would probably behind the police's intended target.
I'm tired of all this crap from Sony. I'm selling my PS3 and I'm going to go buy an xbox from...Oh, godammit! I can't win.
I think any reasonable farmer would go with:
C) Kick himself for not charging more for the beans on the first day. Obviously, he wasn't charging enough for them if they sold out that fast.
You'd be much better off with an XBOX-360

I don't believe in free market anymore.

What an asinine sense of entitlement. You are not entitled to life saving drugs so no one can deny you access to them.
You can have your life saving drugs when both parties come to an agreement on what the drugs are worth.

Did anyone else read that as "Microsoft Neanderthal spokesman..."?
