"That and they are really shitty compared to normal tyres when you brake."
no they are not. I ride on studded snow tires and I can stop far FAR shorter than any other tire on snow, and they already proved that winter tires in general have a higher grip on a 2WD sedan than all seasons do on a 4X4. Jalopnic did several runs on a track and proved it without a doubt.
The studs are easily removed for when the ice is all gone. The simple tool I have will insert or remove the studs. And bans on them are not for the roads, it's that most drivers are far far too stupid to keep the car under 45mph with the studs in. over that speed the risk of throwing the studs increases rapidly.
Granted I actually USE the tires so I know a lot more about them and drive with them during the winter so I know how they add traction and their limitations.
Studded snow tires on a honda civic can out drive any 4X4 truck on all seasons in the snow, it's such a difference you can see the "truck nuts" shrivle up.
Note: my wifes Jeep has standard snow tires on it and she outdrives hard even the county snow plows, no sliding at intersections, etc....
I also take photos of every single bit of damage before I accept the car. The ones they try to bill are the ones that dare to not buy the add on "insurance" You want the insurance right, because something might happen to you. Guido, tell him more about the insurance...
Which is also why civilizations at the core of the galaxy could easily be far more advanced than us because the are traveling at a slower speed than us out here on the rim. Time for them is flowing at a different rate than us.
We live in 4 dimensions. People keep forgetting Time. And the flow of time is still not completely ruled out to be adjustable, The relativity experiments proved that.
Absolutely nobody wants this. It will die a horrible horrible death. You can already buy "Android laptops" from china on ebay and other places.. They are crap, just like the first wave of Android tablets were.
Chromebooks are getting a LOT of traction, but pc makers like HP and DELL do not like the idea of a clean OS they cant clutter with a ton of crap. So they will try another way.
"I would pick grid power over a $43 UPS any day. Besides, how are you going to manage 200 UPSs? Will someone react to battery alarms at all the sites?"
I maintain over 2000 of them, and it's not hard at all, we have a plan to replace the whole unit every 24 months and it has went perfectly over the past 10 years.
And the computers themselves react to the alarms, That is what the USB and RS232 cables are for that come with them. You do know that windows has built in UPS shutdown services built into even the home version of their os.
of all SSD's over the last 2 years purchased here, only Intel drives are still in use, All other brands suffered failures and required one or more warranty replacements.
Yet the Windows Fanbois mock those of us that buy Premium quality Windows laptops. Bought an Alienware: got mocked. Bought a Panasonic Toughbook for work: got mocked. Buy anything other than a $399 walmart special laptop and you get mocked by the windows fanbois.
The Haters are simply homeless kiddies that dont have any money and they simply just project hate on anyone that can afford something they cant.
You do know those opterons are not even 1/2th the performance of the Intel parts. AMD is really the low end in performance and they need to catch up. I am an AMD guy, but have been buying intel because I need the processing power that AMD cant deliver.
Yeah, and my Quad i7 mac mini smacks the tar out of the Dell tower sitting next to it. For some reason the Mac's USB ports are a LOT faster than the Dell's. the ONLY reason I have the Dell tower is because I needed two Osprey Video capture cards for live HD streaming from high end PTZ cameras. Otherwise I would have looked for a Dell that is the same form factor and silence level as the mac mini.
the ONLY use for the Mac Pro is for highly graphic intensive work needing 2 video cards in a SLI arrangement. everyone else can easily get by with a mac mini.
Sadly you cant build a hackintosh for the price of a mac mini.
Not really, the problem is that it drastically devalues the currency to have thousands of competing currencies. It made it a major PITA in the early colonial days as each colony had it's own currency and even banks had their own. So you would be paid in Bank of Fred Dollars but need to change them to Town of Funnyville dollars to spend them, oh and surprise there is an exchange rate where some of the value disappeared. It makes it trivial to start scamming people left and right as each currency competes.
I honestly don't see any of the current attempts (BitCoin Included) being a stable or viable long term digital underground currency. It's good now, but nobody has any expectations of it being around even 12 months later. It's starting to catch the attention of countries that do not like the competition and will start looking at it as a way to evade taxes and that will suddenly cause acceptance at legitimate traders to be limited.
I wish there was something that could come around, but if it competes with someone else that has a lot of power, it will lose in the end.
Yes, because equipment you bought a year ago is garbage and needs to be thrown away and destroyed so that others do not have to suffer with it.
MOST results I am looking for are 3-5 years old, Just Tuesday I was searching and found information to make a very old USB framegrabber work under linux. I know heresy making old things work again, how dare I steal money from the corporate overlords like that....
Stop being uninformed, Halogen bulbs will still be available and are accepted as efficient. $1.25 each for the last 4 I bought at walmart. Do you actually know about what is being banned or are you just listening to the sensationalist hype and assuming?
Want to see worse? Install Ubuntu Linux and enjoy the horrid audio delays. you have to rip out all the audio subsystems to get the latency down. Pulseaudio is utter garbage for anything other than playing email notifications.

Start them on Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition, Traveller, and then add in newer stuff like 13th age as well as Shadowrun 5th edition.
Keep them well rounded and using all types of dice, add in a percentile like Call of Culthulu when they get older.

You really think that the governments around the world will allow it? It takes a LOT of power out of the hands that like to control people.
What if it gets eaten by the chupacabra?
Our insurance covers that.

Really? are you that silly? please read the article.
Audio editing as well. full 7.1 surround mixes can consume as much ram as a video editing station can.
Then when you need to do Sync you still need the video loaded in memory as well so suddenly you start needing more than the video editors did.
No they just print more money when they feel like it.

I'll take that bet.
I have relatives that live near their ranch. I have seen GW when he was in his teens.
All of the home halogen bulbs are encased in a glass globe that matches the older style bulb to eliminate that issue.
http://genet.gelighting.com/LightProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=CONSUMERSPECPAGE&PRODUCTCODE=10044
In fact I cant find ANY bare halogen bulb replacements anywhere that would suffer from that problem. Where are you finding them?
Yes, because equipment you bought a year ago is garbage and needs to be thrown away and destroyed so that others do not have to suffer with it.

Or just buy the Halogen replacements that are actually the cheap replacements for the old Edison bulbs. Still dirt cheap but using less power.
"You obviously do not use tools to make your living, or you wouldn't utter such nonsense."
Just like any of the complete idiots that claim a cheap Dell is the same as a Mac Pro.
